  1. Ok, that's 1. Plus guys hit the ball hard for a change. I'm feeling a faint pulse, doctor.
  2. Ok, I'm wrong. Way not to be aggressive, Nunez!
  3. Yankees love between pitch conferences.
  4. Nunez fell asleep. He could have scored.
  5. Last thoughts on Sale. I think he is a great competitor, but I also think he simply does not make in game adjustments--maybe because he can't. I also think that while his pretty good moving the ball from side to side in the zone, he is far less good at going up and down in the zone, especially down. That's why those two sliders were hit hard--they were up (still below the middle, but up).
  6. While you watch this series and perhaps think about it, ask yourself how well the Guardians would have done in the same 4 games. I would argue they would have taken 3 as well. It's September and right now this team doesn't look like it's ready for October and that's assuming they even get there.
  7. That pitch count--96 for Sale and 56 by Severino--speaks volumes because it underscores how much Sale has struggled, and that started before the dingers.
  8. The bad news is Sale can only go 1 more inning. That's also the good news. To me this is a pretty big game because the Sox are inviting the Yankees back into the AL East race. Actually, the Yankees have earned every win in this series. Losing 3 of 4 (and I sure hope I'm wrong about that) to the Yankees also underscores how weak our hitting is, and it also suggests that maybe rotation ain't so hot either. Only Fister pitched well.
  9. Yes, I did complain about this ump, but the biggest problem is Sale. The Yankee hitters are seeing his pitches entirely too well and in part that's because he has only 2--slider and fastball--and the slider is not a sharp one. Two of the dingers were off his slider.
  10. Why oh why does Leon keep calling for sliders when he know the Yankees can hit them? Meanwhile changeups, which have worked, are few and far between. This is on Sale, but it is also on Leon, the pitching coach, and the manager because there is no way they haven't all had input on what Sale should do.
  11. Now a big pitch count because Sale is stuck throwing fastballs, which finally got hammered for dinger #2.
  12. That 2-2 fastball to sanchez was right in the middle.
  13. Severino just mowed down our 3,4, and 5 hitters like they weren't there. So far he has thrown 52 pitches in 4 innings, which means he will get to the 8th inning if he keeps this up.
  14. It could well be that Severino benefitting from the simple fact that for the most part he is hitting corners far more often than Sale.
  15. I will agree with Thunder on the notion that Severino is actually pitching better than Sale, but there have in fact several examples when Sale didn't get a strike called and should have and Severino got at least one call that was in the same spot.
  16. I think Sale really needs a changeup he can count on. Giving up that dinger--1 run in 3 innings--is really OK. The problem is he won't go for more than 6 and the Yankees are likely to score again. Meanwhile Severino is doing exactly what Sabathia and Tanaka did.
  17. Severino, on the other hand, has our guys completely out of sync.
  18. All three pitches by Sale to Headley were well inside the strike zone. Plus in this game his changeup has not been a factor. He has a decent slide, but it does not break sharply down, and MLB hitters can adjust to it when he throws it so much.
  19. This the second game in this series when I have been sure the ump is favoring the Yankees. It is no doubt unintentional, but it is also real. Funny thing, but Farrell has the same graphics we do, so he knows too. The problem is probably that MLB won't let him use that info.
  20. The ump is taking away the corners from Sale, but Sale is also not good at throwing low strikes. This houdini act by Sale ain't good.
  21. Our true ace is throwing a lot of pitches.
  22. Nice play Nunez. I'm not sure Bogie makes it. This 3d day of "rest."
  23. Mookie was there too because those two work very well together.
  24. Oddly , I like it when Sale doesn't get the K but does get a quick out like that.
  25. That's who to nail a guy on a fat fastball. Set him up with those breaking balls and get ahead in the count so he is guessing.
