  1. Nice by Devers. 3d out.
  2. Game tied. Three singles and sac fly for 2 runs. I still think Pedey faked going to 2b when he should have stayed home.
  3. Did I just see Pedey go to his right on the pitch and the batter hit a perfect GIDP to where Pedey had been?
  4. I'm pretty sure I saw 8 righty bats and 1 lefty in the Jays lineup.
  5. Several at 91, several at 93, 1 at 95.
  6. Shoemaker's splitter is a pretty good pitch.
  7. Shoemaker, Shoemaker--what was ST for in not to get reacquainted with the fundamentals? One more thing I like about Sale is he believes in getting those right. For him covering 1b on a grounder to the right is as big a deal as a great fast ball. With Pomeranz it was kind of optional.
  8. Well, just disregard gameday then. I read it here on talksox that Sale's arm and shoulder are so weak he asked permission to switch to underhanded.
  9. Ahem. Was that a 95 mph fast ball for the K? It sure as heck wasn't a slider.
  10. Love that change, but it missed.
  11. Ok, I just picked up on another Sale bad habit. So, not only is he not getting enough K's, he's also not shaking off any pitches. Warm up the bullpen.
  12. Interesting. Toronto hitter looks like Nanook of the North, and Sale's in short sleeves.
  13. Perhaps, but I think that was the first run Shoemaker has given up this season. Fastball, slider, and splitter are a pretty good repertoire.
  14. Looks like a big strike zone for Shoemaker. Sale also? Anyone? Anyone?
  15. Very, very discouraging top of the 1st inning. I've been reading a lot of game threads and other threads about Sale and have learned that he must throw hard and get strikeouts to be effective. Ground outs and fly outs are sure signs of weakness, and who the heck cares he only only needed 12 pitches? Let's hope he gets better in the 2d.
  16. Remy, Eckersley, and O'Brian in the booth. Super. But sound is off because I'm at the office.
  17. Meh. Agree on the small sample size, but it's the only one we have right now. Besides, the bullpen has pitched against the exact same lineups our very expensive rotation has pitched against--and done a whole lot better. Moreover, I honestly think Barnes is throwing better stuff right now than Kimbrel--who just two pitches and sometimes struggled to get the knuckle curve over--had last year. You could still be right that the bullpen will fade somewhat, but that also might be because they are being overworked covering for the starters who keep getting shelled early. We are ver early in the season and Cora has already used Nunez for 1 inning.
  18. Dead right. He can definitely get excited and shows it during a game sometimes. But boy does he like to prepare and focus before a game.
  19. Absolutely fascinating. Thanks. Cabrera was the guy who filled in after Nomar left, right?
  20. Bad weather today, 43 degrees and rain. Better tomorrow \ thru Saturday. So, honestly, I give the Sox and Sale a pass today even though I hope the home crowd warms our guys up (and not the Jays).
  21. The sun was warm but the wind was chill. You know how it is with an April day When the sun is out and the wind is still, You're one month on in the middle of May. But if you so much as dare to speak, A cloud comes over the sunlit arch, A wind comes off a frozen peak, And you're two months back in the middle of March. 2 tramps in mud time
  22. All five starters now have 2 starts. Price: 12 innings, 8 ER's. Eovaldi: 10 innings, 9 ER's. Sale: 9 innings, 8 ER. ERod: 8 innings, 11 ER. Porcello: 7.1 innings, 11 ER. Sale has the only quality start.
  23. Agree. Way too early. Interesting that the Sox will continue with 13 pitchers and 12 lineup players. Given the problems with the rotation, that continues to make sense. Nunez gets to back up 3B, 2B, and SS. If an outfielder is injured with JDM as DH, I assume Pearce, Nunez, or Swihart can sub.
  24. This time it’s followed by an off day, then agame, then another off day. Great timing by Cora and not taxing.
  25. Pretty harsh, but I basically agree with all of it. These guys don't look like the 2018 team. I would add that Barnes has a much better repertoire than Kimbrel has and is willing to do windows. Whether his fault or not, I still see Kimbrel as the ultimate prima dona--only pitch the 9th, without any baserunners, etc. Yesterday Barnes's 7th and 8th innings were terrific and just what the doctor ordered.
