    Gotta love these Sox, always trying. I was sure Rike was going to get a dinger, but maybe his next time up. And who needs JDM when Santana is available to DH?

    Great first inning!! Love the long home run by Verdugo and the effort by Richards. He's such a great pitcher and just had some bad luck with those 4 hits. If he can keep the hold the Yankees under to just a run or 2 every inning, I feel sure the Sox can win this because this is such a great lineup.

    I am more and more convinced Vazquez is giving up those runs more than the pitchers. The sac fly was on the fastball/sinker, and the 2 strikes were on changeups. That dinger by Torres was also on a fast ball after other pitches had been working against Torres.

    I'm beginning to think that 2 run dinger was Vazquez's fault. He's the one who called for the fast ball when other pitchers were working. On the other hand . . .

    Yankees are lucky, pitching to Vazquez with Dalbec in the on deck circle.

    Agree. This the new/old ERod, but without the run support.

    Who knew Taillon was all-star material? No one. But our lineup is trying to get him an invite. I don't count Dalbec, of course, because he can K on three pitches by almost anyone.

    Too bad. I still like ERod tonight. That pitch was little too fat, and the single was way too lucky.

    If the Sox lose a low-scoring game tonight, I'm not going to be too happy with Cora.

    Weird inning, but still no question ERod is a different pitcher tonight. Three straight fastballs, all in the zone and all swung on and missed, for a K with 2 on and 2 out.

    I think it was mvp78 who said ERod needs to throw lots of fastballs, and tonight the evidence is strong that that would be a mistake. Good mix of pitches, good enough to get outs and no walks and no hits although Judge's liner was a miraculous out. 35 pitches in 2 innings is a lot, but I don't care.

    Somebody got to ERod. He looks really confident tonight and throwing quickly.

    Changeup really worked on Torres.

    Did anyone see the entire play when Bogie grounded out to the thirdbaseman? I ask because I don't see how he could have been beaten on the play unless he gave up early thinking it was foul.
