The more interesting question is whether the Yankees would make the offer. Doing so would save a lot of money, but Yankees fans like their stars even when they can't hit. I knew a Yankees fan who swore Ellsbury was an OK deal--before he missed his last 3 seasons.

ERod at 96 pitches and could come out for the 7th.
He is doing anything but "pound the strike zone." He's been behind in a lot of counts. What he has done is avoid throwing many pitches right down the middle. Plus he has worked the corners. Plus he has mixed up his pitches and kept the batters off balance.
Pivetta and Eovaldi notwithstanding--at least not in their last starts. Pivetta was going ape right up until Cora pulled him with 2 outs in the 7th.
