  1. It was in fact a weak sac fly. Verdugo made an amazing slide.
  2. WEEI guys are blaming Dalbec, but the replay suggests the 3b coach didn't make much of an effort to hold him at 3b. 1-1 game with both runs unearned. Rays beat Guardians in 10 coming from behind.
  3. Correction. Chavis's hit was an error.
  4. Bottom of the Sox order now has 5 of 7 hits.
  5. 4 of the 6 Sox hits have come from the bottom of the Sox order. 2 have come from the top 6 batters.
  6. 2 hits for Verdugo and valid hits at that.
  7. Boone is a happy camper because almost anyone he brings in is going to get our guys out.
  8. I could be wrong, but I think the Sox hitters can thrown at--by that I mean at the head--more often than hitters our pitchers are facing. It used to be called a brush back pitch and was used to set up pitches away from the batter.
  9. That was a rarity by a Sox pitcher. Three pitches in the upper inside corner plus a waste pitch outside--resulting in a K by Hernandez. Great command.
  10. Way to go, Renfroe. Swing at a ball well above the strike zone for a lazy fly to RF. It was, to be perfectly honest, a terrific pitch, guaranteed to make a stupid hitter look bad. Whoever said the Sox, at least tonight, are too aggressive, was absolutely right.
  11. Nice single by JDM!!!! Just what was needed. Up to Renfroe.
  12. He hit it even harder an hour ago, but right to the SS.
  13. Finally, in the 6th inning with two outs, the first hit from the first six batters in the Sox lineup tonight. A clean single by Bogaerts. Montgomery, despite the inane and insane comments on this game thread, dominated the Sox. Period.
  14. 3d time thru the order, which Montgomery so far has dominated.
  15. Sox have 2 singles in 5 innings and are losing 1-0 on an unearned run thanks to Vazquez.
  16. I do not believe that. Taylor completely ignored the runner on 1b and literally gave him 2b. On the other hand, he did get the K to end the inning, so good play on letting him steal.
  17. All three Yankee hitters this half inning have hit the ball hard, but on the ground. Thus 2 outs and a single.
  18. Yes, absolutely, I think it's great pitching by Montgomery. He mixes his pitches and locations. The Sox just hit the heck out of the Jays pitching, so they are not in a slump. And they are playing in front of the home crowd.
  19. Vintage Chavis. Swings at a pitch that bounced 5 feet in front of home plate. I say again, this game is being played exactly the way the last two were played at Yankee Stadium. Did anyone else notice that Montgomery completely dominated the three Sox hitters? If he is a lousy pitcher, we better hope the Sox never have to face a good one.
  20. I just checked. Vazquez does indeed lead MLB in PB's with 9. Next worst has 5, so Vazquez is a good bet to finish the season with the most passed balls.
  21. Verdugo back in his not so good groove.
  22. Well done, Taylor. Now comes the bottom of the Sox order--the only ones with any hits. First six hitters--Kike, Raffy, Bogie, JDM, Renf, and Vazquez--are impartial observers. Correction. Vazquez is actually playing for the Yankees.
  23. And he walks him. And falls down on the mound. This should be good.
  24. Taylor starts by throwing 2 straight far far from the strike zone.
