  1. Yoshida still hits righties better than Ref or Hamilton. My guess is this will change when Abreu returns, should he ever return. It seems he has the tightest calf muscle in the history of medical science.
  2. You some kind of expert or something? Sox score 4 in the 5th plus an inside the park dinger by Duran.
  3. All true, but not lately. Abreu's recovery has been slow. Now 5 September at the earliest.
  4. finally, it's OK to say something nice about the defense. It's taken a long time. conse
  5. One timely double by Duran followed by a timely line drive out by Story. Anthony struck out on a curve well below the zone, his weak spot. Bregman pops up to maintain his slump.
  6. Since Gonzalez hit well in the last 2 games vs the Pirates, I guess I'm OK with him playing today-- Anthony, Bregman, Duran, Story, Lowe, Yoshida, Gonzalez, Rafaela, and Narvaez NESN just said the Sox have lost their last 5 home games. Nevertheless, in all 5 games attendance was over 36,000. g
  7. I'm not convinced Mayer will continue to ride the sick list. This wrist thing is a repeat because they didn't do surgery the first time. I'm glad you reminded me he is our best choice next season
  8. Right now I'm fine with Hamilton/Gonzalez whose WAR's are 1/1.1. Plus Hamilton is hitting well in August. Despite playing in just 58 games, Hamilton has the 5th best DWAR, 1.3, among 2bmen.
  9. 36,391 of the faithful made it to the Fens today. That's getting to be normal--and the first that's been true since 2019.
  10. You're right about Tolle of course. But yesterday I was very impressed. And I forgot Cora will continue to limit his pitches.
  11. Great points! I've complained ad nauseum about the Sox hitting, but in fact the Pirates pitching was solid.
  12. Yep. I think that's why Cora left May in. Once the Pirates got to 5 runs, the game was unwinnable.
  13. He has 2 quality starts--against the Orioles and Astros (whom he held scoreless for 6IP). He was pretty decent today for 4 innings, after which the wheels came off. He held the Orioles to 2 runs in 6 IP before Moran and Hicks came in an gave up 4 more in 3 IP. To be honest, I don't understand all this griping about our 5th starter. When did we ever have a great one? Right now we have the best top 4 starters of any team in MLB. The hitting is what stinks.
  14. Campbell was a disaster at 2b. Hamilton has the 3d best DWAR for 2d basemen in MLB. Today he hit the ball hard twice while Anthony was striking out 3 times. The Sox believe Campbell has a lot of potential, but he is nowhere near it right now.
