Didn't the same thing happen last year with E-Rod? He got hurt, started late, looked shakey, then got rolling late in the season. That's how my brain remembers it. And is why if I feel if that guy could come out of spring training and pitch a full season, he might be bad for a couple months, but get on a good roll for most of the season. But part of me thinks he is just a ding dong....... and will always be inconsistant...

Smith looks like a serious bad ass........ I have very high hope for Smith.............. I hope we find he can prove that in the games before the playoffs just to solidify confidence. Smith, Kelly who has looked super sharp lately, Garden Gnome, Reed, Price.......... these guys look like total shut down guys to me. We have a serious bunch of badasses in relief.

I think it was. What was supposed to be an incredible starting pitcher lineup, got decimated. Price out, E-Rod out for a while, Porcello not performing, The fill ins had their issues, but over all kicked ass. Also the bullpen. Barnes and Hembree were really good the first half of the year, way better than expected. This team was expected to win the ALE. But I think no one predicted how they ended up doing so. Heck, who would have thought Vasquez would do what he did this year.

totally...... just recently had a buddy text his wife about how he got herpes from screwing my neighbors dog while visiting my house......... and it spell checked to he got heroes from the dog... he quickly sent another text saying "sorry, I mean herpes".

I don't know how many pitches he ramped up to during his recovery. If he can only go 50 pitches, I go with E-Rod and have Price waiting in case there is trouble. I'd rather have a guy that looks like he is cruising keep cruising to start, instead of a guy you know you have to pull in a few innings. Just the crazy part to this whole thing, is this is the best I've seen Price pitch...

Well, there's that. How long can Price go? He's only had short stints. Can he go like 60 pitches or 80 or 100? Why aren't we thinking of him as a starter?

Well, you don't remember correctly. There were plenty on this board that thought this team was going to fold and they didn't have enough hitting or pitching or fire or something. I didn't claim I was special. You on the other hand, are very special.

Not starting Sale last go sounds crackpot to me. Pulling him early because we had such a lead sounds like it could have been a good idea, I'm fairly on the fence with letting him go 100 plus pitches. I still think the biggest drawback to not pulling Sale was not getting Price in the game and getting him work.

Unfortunately I think this is where we are at with him. It's too bad, I really liked him on the team in 2016 and his turn around from the previous year where I thought he didn't give a crap. The guy has fire and desire and showed it when healthy at first. I thought he looked like he enjoyed being in the field and being a part of the defense. -
I don't know if this is a Sox fan thing or just a me thing. I expect the worst and hope the best. I think we might lose the first series. But I get kudos because I always thought we would win the ALE.

Porcellini rides the pine in the playoffs....... I'd rather go E-Rod as the third starter... and let the bullpen help him out.
