I have this analogy I'm going to use that almost equates to building a team. It's almost how car dealers try to get money from you.
They want to make as much money as they can off you. Kind of like how you want to build a good team.
Car dealers can get you on the price of the car. Or they can get you on the trade in. Or the financing. And last, but not least, they can get you on the warranty.
They will sacrifice not making money on one if the buyer has a strong opinion on getting a good deal on that aspect. But they will push hard on another aspect to get the money they didn't make from the one they gave in to.
Building a team can be very much like this. You will have strong points already on your team, and you need to go and get what will compliment them. Sometimes a team will need to go in a direction such as offense, and maybe not throw away the farm on pitching.
So I get the strong offense and mediocre pitching thing.
But dang....... the offense blew it the first half of this year.
And the pitching is in ....... a ....... disarray right now......... and needs CPR.
