  1. I'm with you. Throwing out runners is just gravy. Us fans can easily tell who can hit. But seeing how much a good receiver affects the pitcher is very difficult. I think Porcello maybe one of those kind of pitchers that needs to have a strong presence behind the plate, or he falls off the tracks. Some of our mediocre starters could really use the assistance I believe, and I think we saw some of that the first half of last year. How do you qualify this other than CERA?
  2. I would think an overpay would mean when one team pays much more than any other team would pay. Like a team bidding against themselves. Like with Arod, or Hanley. You definitely can't say something is an overpay if one other team would pay about the same price for a player.
  3. The thing about Vasquez throwing back to him faster than he threw it? What I am interested in is Vasquez or Hannigan just makes Porcello more comfortable. I know one of poor performance games pitched this year was caught by Swihart, and I think they all have been until this one. (How could you check on that?). If I remember correctly last year they started having Hannigan catch Porcello once they both were back, and Porcello's better 2nd half happened.
  4. So what do we have so far? Price doing his thing. Buchholtz....... looking ok. In form as about where he should be right now. Kelly..... Looking good. Porcello......Not doing so well. E-Rod, out till the end of April at the least. Johnson..... Minor injury. He's supposed to be back soon though correct? Owens. Hasn't looked so great other than today. Control issues. I'm kind of disappointed by this. Wright. Looking like a 5th starter looks. Elias. Looking about the same as Wright. Does that sound about right?
  5. I still expect to see some high level buffoonery from H-Ram. But again...... I'm really looking forward to seeing his bat in the lineup.
  6. Good post. Isn't what we saw last year and this spring a major overachievement for him at the plate? I'm not sure I'm sold that he will keep it up. Projections don't believe he can keep it up.
  7. Totally. Hanley looking at least serviceable is a huge win. HUGE. Considering what a s*** show it could be if he is isn't able to hold down the position, this is good news and I'm very happy to be wrong about him being able to play the position.
  8. Oh man..... Porcello......... come on.... WTH???
  9. Spring training is kind of ********........ yea.... everyone looks great.........or was bad because they were trying something new.......... players that do well are only doing great against other players that are getting their work in............ I'm think spring ball is my least favorite baseball of the year.... it's ********............ and means nothing.... but then does in a way... if you can sifter through the ********. It's like dry humping....
  10. I'd agree with this. Some people can detect player instinct. If you are a ballplayer on the field, you need to detect who on the other side is going to give you trouble. Who is going to make the play and who is not, who is going to be a tough opponent, you watch for that stuff. Good players and people who know the game can sum up a player very quickly by looking at the very small stuff. Mr. 700 has that intuition.
  11. Voice of reason........ I swear you must be a Vulcan.
  12. I usually google translate it to Mandarin or Portuguese, then translate it back into English........... it makes more sense to me when I do that.
  13. Blows my mind.......... any real shortstop prides themselves on being the badass who will get that high popup.
  14. How bad are we talking????? Are you talking left field type of bad??????
  15. I'd say that is pretty bold. You might be right, but I guess I still have this hope that Sandoval will return to at least average. I also think Hanley wouldn't be any better at third than Pablo is. And Shaw, as much as I like him didn't we see him play over his head last year. He's an ok first baseman, probably average at best is what I would call it.
  16. Yea, I have to agree with this. That was some pretty harsh slander we just can't verify, especially the part on Hanley's motivation. Yes, we probably know Hanley isn't going to get a gold star on work ethic on the things he doesn't want to do, but I don't think we can come to the kind of conclusions Jung wrote by what the info we are provided. I particularly like the part about monitoring Hanley's mental stability game to game. But the point made about Farrell announcing Young subbing for JBJ is right on IMO. It shouldn't have been said.
  17. I think we all know it's going to be ugly at first with Hanley, maybe even fugly. But H-Ram can hit the heck out of the ball. I don't like it much, but I think we are going to need much patience watching Hanley playing first, and have to keep hope that his bat makes up for it. You having a good time??? What else do you do while not watching games?
  18. Cool. I thought you may be down in FL. No pre-season watching for me, so I'm living through you people that can view the games.
  19. Spud, you in Florida now?
  20. How do you post a quote in a quote? Are you and wyo-sox talking about the same thing I am? The MLB.TV live streaming on a computer? If so that blows my mind. I've had it on multiple computers, multiple locations, and probably with better internet speed and connectivity than any of you in Japan and it always was bad for me. hmmmmm?
  21. You're telling me. No cable or tv here in my home. Lived in other countries where the only thing was online streaming MLB.tv. It's an incredibly crappy product. One year you could pay for post season games. I did, the Sox were in the post season. I think this was 2013. So the think about it is was you could only view ONE camera angle, or you could change it if you wanted which was not worth while because once you changed it the action was already done. Picture watching a playoff game only from the camera angle from behind the catcher. And the blackouts are crazy..... I'm 3 hours from Dallas, 3 hours from Houston...... but I'm blacked out from both local broadcasts......... f*** MLB.TV....
  22. I guess we need less bunting drills and more drills about how to keep your dick in your pants............ why is this public anyway???????? humans being humans..........
  23. Very high on my list of hopefuls this year, and possibly top of the list, is Papi goes out like a rock star. If he leaves MLB still as a wrecking machine and with a wink that game is now for younger people, I will be happy.
  24. I've only had that work for away games. If MLB.TV can't see your IP address they default to your credit card info, which is most likely your home zip. Then you get blacked out. I call total bullcrap on this.
  25. Your right. You can really never know what's going on in someone's head. He really stands to lose a lot by not making the sacrifice, I think we all know that which makes it hard for us to fathom him not doing so. But again, you never know what people are going through. Heck, about a month ago a guy who was just named the best chef the world committed suicide.
