The thing is most likely Shaw at his best was Sandoval's average over the last half a decade, minus last year. I think some people here think Sandoval is kaput, and some here think he can regain some of what he was before last year. To me the odds are about 50/50, but I'd halve to go with Pablo, but it's probably because I can't imagine a player just tanking so bad within a year. But if we are now seeing injuries due to physical conditioning, that is something else.
I'm kind of glad Pablo got injured . It makes the decision that much easier. And even though I think the team would be better off with Pablo turning it around, I'd much rather see Shaw at third in the hopes he keeps on hitting.
I know little about Shaw's defense. But from last year he moved well for a very big guy. But he still moved like a very big guy, and seemed much more suited for first to me.
