  1. This is the handicap that is being given to the rest of baseball. The Sox are that good!
  2. Almost sounds like a phantom DL for Johnson, doesn't it?
  3. 100% agree. And I say this as someone who is not the biggest Dombrowski fan.
  4. And yet, the BP is not the reason why we have lost any of these games. It's not complacency when you have a team where there is very little room for improvement to begin with. The Sox did enough this offseason. Our biggest need was a starting pitcher, and we signed Eovaldi. Now, is there some complacency with Cora and his spring training philosophy? Maybe. But I trust what Cora is doing. Either way, I don't see the complacency in terms of Dombrowski and the offseason moves or lack thereof. You don't make moves just for the sake of making moves.
  5. The Rays may be a bigger concern than the Yankees. They have pitching.
  6. I think it could be a combination of both. Mostly, I think it's that the team was just not ready to start the season. That said, having a veteran catcher like Leon behind the plate could make some difference with struggling pitchers. It's nice to know that we have Leon, should things not improve soon. However, the team chose Swihart and they need to be committed to giving him a real chance. If they pull the plug on him again after a few games like they did before, the team will never know what his true potential is. I'm a Leon fan, but Swihart needs to be given a true chance. He could wind up being very good.
  7. If the 2020 Sox are completely out of it in July, it would make no sense not to trade him, IMO. If the Sox are still in it, I would not trade him, unless the trade would somehow upgrade both the current and future teams. The better option would probably be to trade him this offseason.
  8. I'm not bothered by the gender specificity of his statement. Comparing partners to players on a baseball team doesn't compute.
  9. Mookie, like Sale and the rest of the team, will be fine.
  10. My money is on Mookie having another great season. That said, if you think all of the media attention etc. doesn't affect the players, you are only kidding yourself.
  11. It's not only the WAR that you're trading, but the goal is to trade for cost controlled players, where the saved money could go a long way in improving the team in other ways. Of course there is no certainty, but hopefully you trade for some youngsters who will become the next Mookie, or somewhere close to it. IMO, if we know we're not extending him, it would not be very wise to let him walk for just a draft pick, especially when there would still be a possibility of re-signing him as a free agent.
  12. Sale will be fine. He is Chris Freakin' Sale after all. The Sox were just not ready for the start of the season. Cora has a plan. I trust his plan.
  13. Chocolate Chip Cookie Mojo! David Price for the Win! And I like that Avril Lavigne song too.
  14. Enjoy it while it lasts. Last year was obviously extremely difficult on you guys.
  15. And I will continue to say it every game. I know no other way. Talk to me at the end of the season when the Sox win their 4th division title in a row.
  16. The good news is, we have nowhere to go but up.
  17. The hitters got it going after we were down by 13 runs. I am pretty sure that doesn't count, since the DBacks were almost assuredly pitching us differently than they would have in a close game.
  18. It's not just the contract situation. He's the reigning MVP and a reigning WS Champ. Even without an impending huge free agency payout, that is a lot to live up to. All the speculation about his contract only makes things more difficult. I wouldn't be surprised if he struggles a bit. OTOH, I wouldn't be surprised if he wins MVP again.
  19. Kulpa is umpiring the Sox/DBacks series.
  20. Boone is a Doofus. That's all that needs to be said.
  21. The Sox would let allow Sale to pitch if they thought he was injured. They have too much invested in him. Also, IMO, Sale is not the type of pitcher who would try to hide an injury from the coaching staff. Cora is a pretty straight shooter on these types of things. If he's not concerned, then I'm not concerned. Sale will be fine.
