  1. The problem with that is, a beautiful woman to one person may not be beautiful to another. Beauty is extremely subjective.
  2. If you are just watching and enjoying games, there is no need to have any interest in analytics. Nobody is requiring anybody to follow analytics. However, if you are on a baseball forum debating baseball, I think you need them.
  3. Do we even have papers anymore? LOL
  4. Don't be so sure about that.
  5. I certainly hope not. If he doesn't return to starting, that will be a very ill-advised contract.
  6. I am sure he will help the pen. He might even be a very good closer. I hope that's the case. I just don't get your arguments that we need a proven closer and that not anyone can close, to Eovaldi being the guy.
  7. What's wrong with the Red Sox taking them out of the playoffs?
  8. I'm not going to lie, the Yankees have looked very good this season. All I'm saying is that you haven't won anything yet.
  9. We do tend to forget that these players are human, and they deal with the same everyday problems that the rest of us do. People take the loss of a pet extremely hard. Most of us would be somewhat distracted at work and unable to do our best job if we were dealing with an emotional issue such as this.
  10. I did not see Cora accompany Price to the clubhouse, but it's good to hear that he did. There's no telling what was said, but I think it's good that Cora took the time to talk to Price, and hopefully, it was something positive. Price needs to hope that he will rebound in his next start and pitch very well. Otherwise, this will drag on in the media.
  11. IMO, Sale and Porcello are very similar in their mental makeups. They are both fierce competitors who are their own toughest critics. I appreciate that they don't make excuses. They may both be past their prime, they may not be. Porcello, like Sale, is going to work very hard to figure out how to do a better job.
  12. Maybe he meant "Sell?" As in, "Are you guys crazy?"
  13. I like the way you think.
  14. That post was specifically about Thursday's game, in which our BP pitched 3 very good innings. Again, you can complain about the pen all you want. The problems begin with the rotation though. No matter how good a pen is, it will not be able to do its job if the starters continue to pitch so poorly. And that includes Sale too. Eovaldi should help the pen. He is not the answer to what ails the Sox though.
  15. Just when we think things are looking up a little... I never liked the Price signing because of the contract, but outside of the contract, I am happy to have him on our team. He does need to learn how to keep his mouth shut though.
  16. Fans forget this because Leon's bat stinks. They sometimes tend to overlook the fact that there is more to a game than just offense.
  17. It was a pathetic performance on all fronts. I keep waiting for the 'rock bottom' moment, where the Sox are finally going to get pissed off at themselves and do something about it. Maybe this is it. Or not.
  18. Haha. You are a little full of yourself these days, aren't you? Yes, it's looking very dicey, but it's not over yet. As I told Harmony, prepare to be shocked! Wouldn't it be great if the Sox and Yankees met in the ALDS and the Yankees got eliminated from the postseason once again?
  19. It's not that I don't trust my eyes. It's that I know that there are limitations to the eye test. I have no doubt that everyone here knows a good defensive play when they see it. Do you think your eyes are ever wrong? Do you think you might see things a little differently because you are biased towards or against a player? Do you know that JBJ is better than other outfielders out there? Are you forgetting about some of the plays that JBJ missed and only remembering the great plays that he made? Personally, I find it a little arrogant to believe that if a stat doesn't support your opinion, then the stat must be wrong or flawed. Could it possibly be that you are wrong instead?
  20. A single stat should never be the only factor considered. Stats alone should never be considered without scouting reports. That said, team WAR correlates very well with team wins.
  21. Jacko is such a good guy that way.
  22. Things can and do change in baseball rather quickly. On June 15th, the Guardians were 11 games behind the Twins. Today, they are 3 games back. All it takes is a good run. Are the Red Sox capable of putting together a good run? I think so. I know you are feeling all giddy about your Yankees, and you should be, but don't count your chickens before they hatch. The Yankees haven't won anything yet. They will probably win the division, but even with that, winning the WS is an entirely different story.
  23. It is possible that he will do a great job. At the very least, he will help with the lack of depth.
  24. Just curious, why is Eovaldi the perfect closer for this team? Is he a proven closer? How many saves does the guy have?
  25. Lou Merloni @LouMerloni · 8h Some people call it Karma. I would say that the Baseball Gods have spoken. Who sucked tonight? The team? Or the guy that felt so good about himself that he could say and do whatever he wants because he can. And then get his teeth kicked in by the Orioles Who’s Giddy? I’m ********. They are losing to the Orioles. I wish he’d shut his mouth and just pitch. He’s a hired gun. No emotional ties. Just win. But when you put a bullseye on your back and added pressure, you better perform. He didn’t.
