Although that was somewhat of an unlucky inning for Breslow, we finally saw his less than stellar stuff really cost us so far. His era this year honestly didn't make sense for what he has: a high 80's to low 90s fastball and no real dominant curveball or change up that can strike out batters.
Fun fact: as of right now, the only three players in the mlb who have at least a .300 average, at least 100 rbi's, and at least
30 hrs are big papi, miguel cabrera, and paul goldschmidt. Great season papi.
Plus, buccholz did have control problems early last game and the velocity wasn't up. Its really gonna hinge on how well he pitches his last starts. Overall though, he was dominant his last start.
If the red sox make the playoff's, who is gonna be the playoff ace? Even if Clay completely dominates his last couple of starts the season, does farrell consider him or go with lackey or lester?
Indeed. Still only hitting around .267 since the break, but I certainly think had he not been injured to begin the season, his overall average would probably be around .260 now. Not to mention the countless amounts of clutch hits he has had. It seems like every hit he gets really counts.
