    Would you rather have the #1 pick or the #30 pick? The 5 or the 25? I take the higher pick in an every circumstance. You would too.

    I kinda don’t want to go through the list right now. Other than to give him a B+ for dumping Devers. He’s an incredibly self centered player who I wouldn’t want on my team at all. Not sure if you have been following how self centered he has been in SF lately. He refused to come out of a game recently when the manager came to remove him for a pinch runner, waving the manager away. But since you agree with me about the draft position being meaningful then why not plan for the best possible future by losing as many of these meaningless games as possible? I always want what’s best for the team and this year it means losing.

    The bottom large font bold print is a statement of fact without presenting the data. Its a summary of the data. Its also common sense that, in general, higher draft picks will tend to do better as pros. Otherwise why even have a draft order? Why not just let all the teams pick a number out of a hat?

    I think that Breslow is history and that I am hopeful ownership chooses a new GM that can make better choices. Breslow has made a few good decisions, but too few IMO.

    Not a bit. Not only do you have to draft high but you also must make good choices as to who you draft. The FLOPS have sucked at that.

    Yes Fire BresLOW and get a GM who actually knows what he is doing. . PAY FOR top talent on the FA market. Make trades that are likely to help the team. And PAY FOR the talent we already have to stay put while not handing out stupid extensions to players of questionable value. Cut bait with the deadwood on the team immediately. Id make an excellent GM I think.

    It’s kinda silly to deny that the higher the draft pick the better the chance of choosing a more talented player. It’s why there is a draft order rather than all teams just picking a number out of a hat. Is it a guaranteed that if you have a high draft pick you’ll get a top talent? Of course not. It’s a matter of odds. The higher the pick the higher the likelihood that the player will contribute more. So….JUST LOSE BABY! LOSE!

    I’ll take my chances with a top five pick and you can take your chances with a bottom five pick. Chances are I’ll come out ahead most times.

    You realize that between the #1 pick and the # 30 pick there are 28 players, generally in descending levels of regarded talent. Right?

    No thanks. I’ll simply say that there is an order in the draft for a reason with the teams with the worst records choosing ahead of those with better records. That way the worst teams have access to the more highly regarded players eligible. Otherwise why not just make it random? You know, pick a number. This is why it’s so important to lose as many games as possible for the rest of the year. You know, TANK. It’s a lost season anyway so it’s best to plan for the future.

    Wrongaybe it’s a crapshoot between # 10 and # 15, but getting a top five pick has a higher likelihood of choosing a player with more talent than a #20. So LOSE BABY LOSE!

    Well of course! We not only need to spend a lot more money but we need to spend it wisely. That doesn’t mean nailing it every time but despite a few good moves BresLOW has sucked at his job. He’ll be gone after the season is over

    At the very least he shouldn’t lie to our faces about his priorities. The Celtics not only make the playoffs nearly every year but are almost always in serious contention for a ring. The Flops are almost always in contention for last place-lately. How many times in the past 7 years have they finished last? A: this year will make it four last place finishes in 7 years.     The Flops are by far the worst franchise in New England. I don’t think I’d mind the fact that Henry is a cheapskate if they were competitive in most years. They aren’t. They finish LAST with disgusting regularity. Look at the other New England franchises: the Patriots were in the Superbowl last year after one year of 3-13. The Bruins made the playoffs this year during a rebuilding year. The Celtics also made the playoffs and do so almost every year. Henry lies to the fans about prioritizing winning and is 23rd in revenue invested in player salaries. This franchise stinks and deserves to be booed at the games if not boycotted.

    Exactly. It’s a measure of the commitment of the owners to prioritizing winning over profits. And I don’t have more recent data on the subject so I’m using what I have. Current data could be a higher or a lower percentage of revenue spent on salaries. The available data proves that Henry is more committed to making money than investing it in the team (which is his prerogative) while he lies about it to the fan base. That’s why the fans at a recent game were chanting “sell the team”. And he should. We deserve better.
