  1. I’m admittedly a bottom line kinda guy. I don’t really care if they make a single trade or acquisition as long as they are competitive for a playoff spot nearly every year. That has obviously not been the case and too many fans are tolerating it by showing up at the park or making excuses on message boards.
  2. Thats not what I said. I said I expect them to be competitive NEARLY every year. When you finish last or finish at around .500 you are not competitive. Of note, after last night's game we are now on a pace to win 86+ games. Thats unacceptable if its year after year as it has been. No team competes EVERY year. The FLOPS have SUCKED since 2018 aside from one good year. Happy with that?
  3. I would include Abreu in the "keeper" list. So maybe 8-10 players who have played this year on the ML team in combination with some of the talent in the minors. I disagree on Narvaez. I think he was a flash in the pan, though good defensively, he can't be counted on to hit the baseball-like Rafaela. The dismantling won't happen all at once. It will take 2-3 years. But with competent management the franchise could become relevant again. Why should we not demand that the team have the success rate of, say, the Astros? Thats my expectation.
  4. I am talking about their TRACK record: 2025: first place 2024: first place 2023: first place 2022: first place 2021: first place How does that contrast to the FLOPS record over that time period?
  5. Wrong again! I would rather see the Sox not resort to becoming the FLOPS and succeed, and make a deep playoff run. I would be happy to admit that I was wrong. Will you admit that YOU were wrong as easily if they FLOP again?
  6. Because too many players are simply not very good, historically, and are slumping as they return to nearer their career averages. You think Gonzales, Toro, Narvaez, Wong, Rafaela etc will suddenly turn it around and outperform their career averages? You saw what happened last night: bases loaded, nobody out, no runs. How many times did we fail to score with RISP? The problem IMO will be scoring runs going forward. Its why we will likely NOT make the playoffs this year.
  7. I said I would keep maybe 6-8 players who are now on the ML team. The rest I would throw in the dumpster. Those 6-8 players combined with the talent we have in the minor leagues are the foundation. There's nothing inconsistent with what I wrote. The truth is that unless Henry sells the team or changes his cheapskate attitude, unless Breslow is fired along with Cora, it won't matter WHAT the foundation is. They have demonstrated literally year after year that they are not up to the job.
  8. You're right: GOING FORWARD the foundation seems good. Anthony, Mayer, Campbell (I think he will do fine). and others are likely to provide good bases on which to build. The problem is, its ALWAYS "wait till next year" with this team. We had ONE good team since 2018. That speaks to the incompetence of management.
  9. Its gotta start at the top. If the owner is a cheapskate and the GM is incompetent it won't matter WHO you put on your roster.
  10. A well managed franchise, like the Astros, should be competitive nearly every year. Look at their record over the last 7 years or so. Then give me the reasons why the Sox cannot be just as well run.
  11. So we went 2-3 at home against last place teams. Great. Thats a sure sign of success! The Yankees are going to be very unhappy that we have owned them this year. We MIGHT win a game there, but not more. The worst part is that the team simply isn't playing good ball. They are crashing, like they do almost every year.
  12. Thats a copout. A big market team should be fairly good nearly every year. I posted the fact that since 2019 we have had ONE good year, 2021. The rest were awful or mediocre. Thats just a fact. Unfortunately, this year doesn't look much different.
  13. The records I posted prove that this franchise has become LOSERS, basically year after year. Are you happy with the track record I posted? Assuming (reasonably) that we will again crash and burn what changes should be made to improve the team going forward (ie, wait until next year......AGAIN)? You know the old saying, "the definition of insanity is to keep doing the same thing and expect different results". Right?
  14. How did we do against the Marlins and last place Os? Whats your prediction for the weekend then the next series with the seemingly unbeatable (for us) O's?
  15. To be fair, Toro until June 13 had a .891 OPS. When Casas went down he contributed. The mistake Cora and Breslow made was thinking that might continue. Like many other players he regressed towards his career norms. You just can't EXPECT a group of also-ran players to all have career years and carry the team in Oct. Thats just plain dumb.
  16. Just to recap, to keep it real, here is how the FLOPS have finished recently: 2019: 84 wins; 2020: last place: 2021: 92 wins (whoopee!): 2022: last place (78 wins); 2023:last place (78 wins); and 2024: 81 wins. Not exactly a record of remarkable success, is it. Time for a change. Tear it all down.
  17. I'd take my chances. We are going nowhere with our current owner, as the last several years has proven.
  18. Sorry. But thats laugable. We needed guys like Naylor and Ryan and we got M&Ms. Admittedly both of them are playing better than I expected, but I do not think that will continue given their track record. Expecting them and players like Gonzales, Toro, Wang, Narvaez to all play better than their career or expected numbers is not smart. Same with Rafaela. The other contenders improved. For the second year in a row we marched in place.
  19. "The pitching favored the Os". They are a LAST PLACE TEAM-by a mile! If we cannot beat last place teams AT HOME when it matters that speaks volumes for how BAD we are. As of now we are tied with the Ms and Cleveland and KC are just two games behind us and gaining because they are playing better baseball. One of them will almost certainly pass us.
  20. I didn't say that Henry is GOING to sell the team. I said he SHOULD sell the team. He has stated that he is not in the habit of "selling assets". But his incompetence and cheapskate tendencies mean failure and the proof is what they have done over the past several years. He is part of the problem, though not ALL of it.
  21. Do you think that Breslow provided the team with what it needs to significantly improve and compete in October? Yes or no.
  22. Are you seriously trying to imply that May is as good as Ryan? Really? On what planet?
  23. And sinking like a rock in August, as usual. Yes, tear it down. There are maybe 6-8 players I would keep: Crochet (obviously), Chapman, Bregman, Anthony, Mayer, Whitlock, maybe Story, Bello, maybe Duran...and thats about it for players now on the ML roster. How many last place or about .500 finishes are YOU willing to tolerate before you will agree that this is necessary? Tear it down from Henry down to Toro. After this weekend in NY more people will come to realize that while technically the season hasn't ended this is called "playing out the string". Its a disgusting repetitive pattern for this loser franchise.
  24. I guess you’re not getting tired of mediocrity and near annual crashes. I am. This team needs to be torn down, top to bottom. I don’t see any significant October baseball as long as cheapskate Henry owns the team as long as our GM fails to provide the mid season help we need-instead giving the team M&Ms-and goes dumpster diving for players in the offseason like Buehler, Gonzalez (yes, he had his moments in the sun and is now failing), and Toro and Wong etc. We needed Ryan and Help at 1B and catcher. We got dregs. Again.
