  1. Just keep waiting. I’ll let you know when I’m finished
  2. Not sure I like Rafaela doing interviews while he’s playing
  3. Now let’s sweep these bastards! The Yankmees are a good fastball hitting team and May has a good sweeper. If he can locate it today we have a good chance to do it.
  4. I wouldn’t expect a team completely made up of above average players. I am quite sure that’s never happened. So as I wrote as long as there aren’t any or many black holes on the team we can afford one or two on our hypothetical championship team. My sport in college was hockey. I didn’t play for the college team but I think we were probably just as good. It was an independent league and several of the players went on to play professionally at the Jr A level. Not sure if anyone made it to the NHL. I also played chess in HS and won. National title in my division there along with several New England college championships. played a little baseball. Nothing significant. I like wat it but until they sped up the game it was so damn slow….it’s better now.
  5. Maybe I’ll be pleasantly surprised but I don’t see him significantly improving offensively. It’s possible. I’m not expecting it. If he is league average at OPS I’d play him. That’s .720. Otherwise he’s a late inning defensive replacement on my team unless the rest of the team are mashers. At the end of the day you have to be able to score runs. We don’t need another JBJ on the Red Sox.
  6. His fatal flaw is lack of plate discipline. I don’t see that changing. I said earlier I thought he’d hit about .720-.740 by the end of the year and he’s already below that. There has to be a level at which it’s not worth having him in the lineup. We don’t need another JBJ unless there are no other black holes. My level is .720. Where’s yours?
  7. Cedanne is down to .714 OPS and sinking fast. In his last 16 games in 61 PA he is batting .127/.395. One could have guessed that his lack of plate discipline would bite him as the season wore on and he got more and more tired, like all of them. His contribution is defense and he is best in CF. I think that is where he should play every day he is in the lineup. Cora has to deal with 2B some other way.
  8. I am not aware of the content of Anthony's contract but I think he is likely going to be a major force going forward. In five years that 100M increase in value might seem like a drop in the bucket. I am glad Breslow signed him but if I were Anthony I think I would have waited and hired Borass.
  9. I admit that so far his moves seem to be working out. The M&Ms have outperformed what I expected, and its too early to make a judgement on Lowe, though I thought that was a good move. Signing Anthony long term was a no brainer. I think Roman probably left a lot of money on the table though. Still, I will reserve judgement until the end of the season. Lets see what the final numbers look like. RIght now everyone is rightfully basking in owning the Yankmees. That can affect the judgement of mortal men and women.
  10. That was the best game I’ve ever seen Bello pitch. He was hitting his corners all night long-and with good velocity.
  11. I use to be smart-but that was a long time ago Anyway, we need to win two of the next three at least. We have pretty favorable pitching matchups so we have a shot at it. Especially if we can start plating our lobsters. Isn’t owning the Yankees a treat?
  12. You got me by about 8-10 years. Been a fan since the late 50s. Im a fan but I don’t rearrange my day to watch a game. I want them to win as much as anyone else here but at the end of the day it’s really not important. It’s fun. Like scuba diving….entertainment. But hey-I hear you guys! I’m hearing that you want me to tone it down a bit. I’ll do my best….
  13. I prefer the term “exaggeration”. Try not to take it too seriously.
  14. You know better. I want the team to win as much as anyone here. But it’s an incredibly frustrating franchise to watch sometimes. I don’t think they are particularly well managed and they have “flopped” entirely too many times-so much so that I’ve come to expect it. So I’ve become negative about them based on their history of letting down their fans. Nonetheless I can honestly say I’ve never lost a wink of sleep over baseball or any other sport. It’s entertainment only for me.
  15. And that’s really what counts. If you’re really looking at the Red Sox as “a beacon of hope” as you wrote earlier I’d suggest you reexamine your priorities. This s*** is for entertainment purposes only. At least it is for me.
  16. Whatever you think is fine with me. You have my permission to think I’m a troll. You are right: game threads aren’t for you.
  17. The Yankees aren’t a great team. I watch some of their games to root for whoever they are playing against. Without Judge they are quite ordinary.
  18. It’s ok I understand. I don’t post here to please anyone or “keep” them. I take ALL this with a grain of salt. All of it.
  19. He has a good track record. Maybe a change of scenery will reignite him. May and Matz are more dregs.
  20. All of them. Except Judge. He’s not only great but a class act.
  21. My list only includes players currently playing on the team
