  1. And if you don’t make contact you won’t hit. Lowe took strike three right down the middle.
  2. Really? But when I look in the mirror I see Henry’s mug.
  3. As of right now I’d fire him at the end of the season. That could change if we make it out of the first round in the playoffs. So if I am Henry my thinking would be this: Breslow is skating on paper thin ice. He’s on his way out the door barring an acceptable postseason performance. Clear?
  4. I’m a bottom line kinda guy. I’m willing to wait until we see how the season ends for the team. If we can at least make it into the second round I’d change my mind (not that it matters) about Breslow keeping his job. If it’s a one and done I’d fire him. Being better isn’t good enough if you haven’t reached your potential.
  5. Of course we are better. Just not as good as we could have been had Breslow done his job. We could have competed for at least a pennant. It’s a missed opportunity and it’s cost Breslow his job.
  6. The team is better overall than they were the previous several years but they could have been even better had Breslow done his job. If he had obtained a good #2 SP and a 1B man with power we likely would have been in for a deep run in the playoffs. As it stands I doubt we will even make it out of the WC because we can’t score runs. It’s Breslows JOB to create a winning team. He failed. You know what happens when you don’t perform at your job?
  7. Moon, with all the respect you’re due why on earth should I give a rats ass what you think of my “cred”. You just aren’t important enough to me to assign any value whatsoever to your opinion of my credibility yet this is the second time you have made that presumptuous comment. It’s irrelevant but if you want to keep saying it for your own benefit by all means have at it. To me it’s water off a duck. Now, regarding Ryan, you haven’t the foggiest idea how I would have reacted had we obtained Ryan and he didn’t perform. Here is what would have happened: if we got him and he didn’t perform I would still have congratulated Breslow on the effort. I would have said it’s the right thing for him to have done even though it didn’t work out. You know, an A for effort. As it turned out Breslow failed at the TD. That’s widely accepted. And for that he should be fired at the end of the season.
  8. Its possible that the Twins were asking for the moon in which case Breslow did the right thing in not selling the farm to them. Of course no one knows what was offered, if anything. The Sox have a habit of LOW BALLING, to their detriment. I wasn't particularly attached to Ryan, but I did want a starting pitcher of substance that could help the club. Instead we got May, who sucks, and no help with the offense, which is struggling right now and really isn't very good.
  9. Apples and oranges. Ryan doesn't have a fatal defect that will affect his performance, probably for the rest of his career. Ryan is likely to be a very effective pitcher in his career. Rafaela is likely to continue to be unable to contribute in a positive way to a contending team from an offensive standpoint, something Ryan doesn't have to worry about. The bottom line is that Breslow failed the team, no matter what you think of Joe Ryan.
  10. Great! Then wait on Ryan. Find someone else who can fill the needs of the team. The M&Ms aren’t it. We needed some help with 1B (Lowe was hitting what-.220?), and a good #2 SP. Breslow failed. For that he should be fired.
  11. For the season Ryan was at 3.22. It’s very likely that he would have moved towards his largest season sample size rather than remain at 5+. Generally that’s what players do-they perform the way they have in the past and using the greatest number of games as a comparison you can reasonably expect a performance like their history tells us barring an obvious defect like Rafaela’s plate discipline.
  12. I said for the season-you know, the same sample size you use for Rafaela.
  13. Joe Ryan has an ERA of 3.22 to date, not 5+-just to correct you. And you have no idea what he would have cost. The bottom line is that Breslow failed to provide the team with what they needed. Everyone knows it.
  14. Wonderful. So you are proposing that May is almost as good as Ryan. Face it: Breslow failed at the TD. That’s widely acknowledged.
  15. Unbelievably the Flops have to win tomorrow to avoid being swept at home by one of the worst teams in the game.
  16. I admit Matz has been good. But May? Aside from a single game he has been what we expected. Mantle and Maris could probably pitch better even though they’re dead.
  17. Yes May IS a bust. We all knew he would be. We needed Ryan or the equivalent a Breslow got M&Ms
  18. Sure glad I didn’t waste my time watching these bums today. THIS is the garbage SP Breslow got to “help” the team? Its why he should be fired
  19. I agree. Yet we weren’t completely shut down. We managed to lead 2-0 at one point. You have to wonder if we could have won the game if the pen started the 6th. I think that was the way to go. Tolle had done his job.
  20. And yet we were up 2-0 before Cora let Tolle come out for the 7th followed by bringing in the Stiff Hicks who promptly surrendered two hits and a run in 1/3 inning. He should NEVER EVER be brought into a game that isn’t separated by at least four runs
