  1. The proof of the pudding is in the eating. On Sept 1 we were challenging for first place. Instead of putting their feet on the gas pedal the team is coasting. If they make the playoffs the Flops label goes away. Otherwise they join the many teams that choked in September. .500 ball at crunch time isn’t good enough.
  2. Probably because here at crunch time they are playing, essentially. .500 baseball. This is in part because Breslow whiffed at the TD. Seattle got Suarez and Naylor to bolster their lineup . We got M&Ms.
  3. Which other teams are involved with that magic number? Detroit? Houston?
  4. If we were 10-9 and needed 14-5 to make the playoffs then it’s a choke. 10-9 is barely over .500. Not good enough for a team trying to make the postseason. So again: if we manage to complete the gag job then the 2025 FLOPS can join the choke club along with so many other Flops teams. If the make the playoffs they are exempt. This franchise has a long history of blowing it. Let’s hope the 2025 team doesn’t join them.
  5. Time will tell if your assessment is correct. If they don’t make the playoffs then they are no better than the teams that flopped. On September 1 they were 2 1/2 games out of first place. Now they are fighting for the last WC. If the choke job is realized then you can add this year to the list of teams that flopped.
  6. The big 3 all have ERAs under 3.50 for the year. Harrison and Early haven’t pitched enough to be able to assess them. Both have been evaluated as having a ceiling of depth SPers from what I read.
  7. We actually have three very good SPs too. It’s not the pitching that is the problem now.
  8. Big win The pitching matchup was bad but the Flops won anyway
  9. Feel free to object. But I’m right Rafaela isn’t Yogi
  10. I don’t hate Cedanne. I hate the way he plays with a bat in his hands. He has zero plate discipline and at times looks silly at the plate. The only time he can hit the baseball is if the pitcher makes a mistake. His OPS is under.700. Next question
  11. I’ll finish your sentence: ”hoping he’ll hit .300 the rest of the way.”
  12. Two horrible strikes called on Rafaela. He doesn’t need help striking out
