  1. Correct Alonso would have been a better choice for DH than Yoshida. And yes-Breslow should be fired for not signing the players necessary to compete for a ring. Essentially we have wasted a year of being competitive. We can’t afford to do that
  2. Schwarber would have costed just a little more. But somehow I think our BILLIONAIRE owner could have afforded it. He chose not to.
  3. Alonso is at .812/127. Five time all star. Which player would you rather have?
  4. Correct. It’s not just a matter of spending. You have to spend wisely too. Is that too much to ask of Breslow?
  5. One could also argue that if we had Crochet and Anthony plus Alonso or Schwarber we would be the odds on favorite in the east.
  6. So you knew that Anthony would get hurt over the winter? That’s when Alonso was available.
  7. Correct. They do all those things well and as a result have a juggernaut. Why can’t we do it too?
  8. I think we should have signed Contreras, Suarez, Durbin (admittedly I changed my mind about him), AND Alonso or Schwarber. Letting Bregman go was fine. Get rid of Yoshida (yes, he’s done ok lately but based on his track record he should have been dumped over the winter).
  9. I just did. Henry is cheap in that he should be spending more money based on the income of his investment-unless he is lying about prioritizing winning of course. Could he be lying?
  10. It was never a matter of Contreras OR Alonso (or Schwarber). We could have had both (Contreras and Alonso or Schwarber).
  11. I’ll come back to the teams spending as a percentage of revenue on salaries. 23rd
  12. He does seem to be doing just fine. But over the winter it looked like he could use help behind him. Did you know he would have a career year?
  13. If you’re trying to build a team that contends for a ring you NEED the right players. If you’re content with a one and done in the playoffs you need just the basics
  14. There’s a reason IkF has moved from team to team. He’s not very good with a bat. Gaspar is a bum. We can do better.
  15. I expected our record to be a couple of games better than last year. I think we are still on target for that. The problem I have is that we were in a position to contend this year IF we made the right moves. But Henry was too cheap and Breslow too incompetent to get the job completed.
  16. You were posting all winter about the need for extra offense. So were most people here.
  17. I want to complain that we are not competing for a ring this year despite having most of the pieces to do it. Instead of signing a Schwarber or Alonso we signed bums like Gaspar and IKF. We obviously have the pitching. We needed another bat or two and Breslow failed to get one. That’s his job. He didn’t do it.
  18. It’s good enough if we can sustain it. It would have been even better had Breslow signed another RHH with power to protect Contreras.
  19. If he did such a great job why are we in the last wild card spot rather than competing for first in the East? Everyone knew what we needed. He didn’t fill that need. I admit he bright in some good players but he didn’t finish the job.
  20. Yup. We had a torrid streak. Think it will continue? Last year I was satisfied to MAKE the playoffs. This year we could have competed for a ring if our GM had done the job.
