    I also point out the things he does well. Unlike some here I don’t just parrot his many accomplishments. I don’t pine after Alonso-but he would certainly have helped this team.

    Sorry. I don't take orders from you. As I wrote in an earlier post I will not be naming names. In the future you should try to give a fair and balanced evaluation of performance-like me.

    Yup-he's improving in terms of K rate. But he still could improve more by avoiding chasing outside the zone, especially with two strikes, where he chases at 58%. Imagine how much better he could be if he improved there. And, as Merloni mentions during the broadcasts, he gets into "swing mode" sometimes where he will swing at anything. He was better earlier in the year with that but he now seems to be back in swing mode at times.

    It’s worth mentioning if one endeavors to write a fair and balanced assessment of Rafaela’s performance. That’s what I am doing: assessing his overall performance. Folks like you tend to mention only the things he does well-which are many-while not pointing out the areas where he needs to improve-like his strike zone awareness and his base running. That’s why you need people like me. I took a junior college course in Photoshop a few years ago. The instructor kept complimenting my work over and over again. He never mentioned areas where I could improve. At one point I asked him to be more critical of my work so I could get better. I wasn’t satisfied with just getting an A. I wanted to improve. Similar situation with Rafaela. He does great work overall but needs improvement in certain areas.

    Fair and balanced. Deal with it. Here’s an example of a fair assessment of Rafaela: ” And he still has no concept of the strike zone. His chase rate with two strikes is 58%. That stinks. Fair and balanced…..his play in CF is excellent. He’s having a great year overall. AND there are still areas for improvement.” There you go….

    Are you one of the ones who wear blinders? I don’t remember accusing you of that. To refresh your memory here’s what I actually wrote: ”I'll continue to point out his weaknesses-the ones who wear blinders ignore” I didn’t specify anyone in particular nor will I You just can’t stand it when I post with a fair and balanced outlook. We’ll get use to it. I intend to compliment players who do well and criticize them when they don’t.

    Plus? not even average awful in fact. During the broadcast the announcers mentioned that he has a 58% chase rate with two strikes. I doubt anyone else in baseball is even close to that.
