  1. At the very least he shouldn’t lie to our faces about his priorities. The Celtics not only make the playoffs nearly every year but are almost always in serious contention for a ring. The Flops are almost always in contention for last place-lately. How many times in the past 7 years have they finished last? A: this year will make it four last place finishes in 7 years. Here you go: https://www.boston.com/sports/boston-red-sox/2026/06/19/red-sox-record-2026/
  2. The Flops are by far the worst franchise in New England. I don’t think I’d mind the fact that Henry is a cheapskate if they were competitive in most years. They aren’t. They finish LAST with disgusting regularity. Look at the other New England franchises: the Patriots were in the Superbowl last year after one year of 3-13. The Bruins made the playoffs this year during a rebuilding year. The Celtics also made the playoffs and do so almost every year. Henry lies to the fans about prioritizing winning and is 23rd in revenue invested in player salaries. This franchise stinks and deserves to be booed at the games if not boycotted.
  3. This is from an article in Forbes dated Jan of this year. The data is from 2025 and this year. ”The Boston Red Sox and Chicago Cubs, though occupants of urban ballparks with small capacities, realized $574 and $584 million, respectively, but maintained payrolls of $242 million and $213 million, placing 23rd and 26th, respectively in the ratio of revenues versus expenditures.” https://www.forbes.com/sites/danschlossberg/2026/01/11/study-shows-11-teams-spent-at-least-half-their-income-on-payroll/ Henry is still at #23. Cheap SOB. SELL THE TEAM!
  4. Exactly. It’s a measure of the commitment of the owners to prioritizing winning over profits. And I don’t have more recent data on the subject so I’m using what I have. Current data could be a higher or a lower percentage of revenue spent on salaries. The available data proves that Henry is more committed to making money than investing it in the team (which is his prerogative) while he lies about it to the fan base. That’s why the fans at a recent game were chanting “sell the team”. And he should. We deserve better.
  5. Yes, it is a good metric to assess how cheap the ownership is. That’s just the way it is. You know, common sense! If an owner spends all the revenue he takes in on player salaries that demonstrates a strong commitment to winning. If an owner spends 10% of what he makes on player salaries that speaks to a LACK of commitment on his part and a strong commitment to pocketing as much money as possible. To write otherwise is simply demonstrating a lack of understanding of rational thought.
  6. Like I said, no matter what you think of the metric it IS a useful tool to determine how cheap the owner is. Ours is the 23rd cheapest. It’s one reason why the team stinks and has sucked with some regularity for years.
  7. No, it means TRADING an OF, preferably Duran, but Abreu would be an option if they got a good return for him. Its a VERY useful metric despite what you believe. Teams that make a lot of money should be spending a higher percentage of revenue and the greedy owners would STILL line their pockets easily. Is it a guarantee of success? Of course not. But look what the Dodgers have done. They spend plenty and they are a juggernaut. We should be more like the Dodgers and less like the Rays.
  8. Useless? Let me repeat it then: the FLOPS at last check were 23RD in percentage of revenue spent on salaries. Thats unacceptable. Yes they should be spending more....much more. You see the result of not doing so on the field this year. They SUCK. As for Gray, he has SO FAR done better than I expected-but its only June. There's plenty of time for him to fall off the cliff as he wears down. And the FLOPS have done EVEN WORSE than I expected, mostly because they failed to acquire talent. They should have dumped Masa and obtained Alonso or Schwarber ALONG WITH Contreras. This was the year go all in, to try to win a ring. The pieces were there if a few strategic additions were made. They weren't. And here we are......LAST PLACE. Again.
  9. I saw the need to spend to get at least one more bat, preferably from the right side, but definitely a quality player. But they took the cheap way out prioritizing defense and pitching....while they forgot that you actually have to score runs to win. I admit I thought we would be a little better than last year, but we are a horrible baseball team as it turns out. Why is BrewLOW still employed here? He totally screwed things up.
  10. I really don't care about our run differential (which I admit is strange when compared to our record). I care that we are NOT competitive and will AGAIN not be playing in October because we are AGAIN a last place team. Its embarassing, or at least it should be for a big market team. The the teams in the AL suck and we suck worse than almost all of them. Nothing to be proud of and NO REASON to go to the park for anyone. There needs to be a boycott until Henry apologizes for the dregs he put on the field..........AGAIN.
  11. I'm just looking at the roster...who is in the lineup. There are a few guys doing the job...Abreu, Contreras etc, but too many AAAA bums being passed off as ML players. IKF for example was signed as a depth move, which I was fine with. But he is in the lineup every day almost. We have a lot of IKF types and too few Schwarber types.
  12. Ummm...no, its SKILL lacking. When you are trotting out bums like IKF, Gaspar, Durbum etc etc there is CLEARLY not enough talent to compete. Chad Finn had a great column recently imploring the FLOPS to toss in the towel already and not pretend they have a competitive team in order to fill the park with fans who are deluded into believing that this is anything but a last place team. Its SKILL lacking. Schwarber hit 3 HRs yesterday. We coulda had him if the owner wasn't so CHEAP.
  13. The chances are that the higher the pick the more talented the player will be. Not always, but I would rather take my chances with the #1 pick....or the #2 pick than the #10 pick. This season was lost almost before it began so its time to plan for the future and admit that the team is now too full of bums to do anything for a few years. One thing that would help is losing as many games as possible from now on....you know, TANKING. Thats the best thing for the team right now. So............LOSE BABY LOSE!
  14. So you are claiming that the talent level in the draft is totally unassociated with the position a team has in the draft. I think you know better than that. While there may not be much difference between #6 and #10 we both know that the #1 or #2 is more likely to be more talented than #20. So lets shoot for getting the worst record in baseball. We are already well on our way at #6.
  15. I ALWAYS want what is best for the team. This year that means losing as many games as possible to improve our draft position. Of course I have no faith in BresLOW. He is incompetent. I could almost certainly do a better job. Maybe you could too. So the first step is showing him the door. THEN doing what is best for the team, and that includes trading Rafaela while his stock is high....because by the end of the year, just like last year, he will get worn down and his value will be far less. This is the best course for the team right now because right now they are full of bums.
  16. I’d trade Rafaela now while his stock is high. Crochet, Anthony….that’s pretty much it. Trade the rest for a bag of golf balls.
  17. Maybe the worst part about all this is BresLOW saying with a straight face that they aren’t giving up on this season. Who does he think he’s fooling???
  18. Well obviously BresLOW has to go and get replaced by someone competent
  19. That’s a good thing. Gotta get the best possible draft pick.
