  1. We got Wright for a pathetic Lars Anderson so i imagine some Gms would think that getting Clay out of Boston and in their rotation would be good..I still think his upside still has the eye of other Gms. It would have to be a bit of a gem lost in the crowd, like a Holt or Wright, but who cares. Hes kinda useless right now. Hes really not much better than what we have in AAA.
  2. Agree...Completely understand the option this year. Next year? After this horrendous year so far, he hasnt earned it IMHO. Ive been a supporter up until this year. I really do hope he can figure it out and be at least a solid, serviceable 3. I believe He can be at least that... im hoping he will anyway...either here or somewhere else. Erod looks to be all set to take Clays spot next time around so we should see anther corresponding move. Clay is not built for the pen and hes out of options. My guess is they wont make big move until ERod looks ok in his start...either way, clay is out... If Kelly and ERod look bad, DD will HAVE to trade some of our prospects for a starter. If they do well, maybe not just yet...
  3. And the streak ends for JBJ...now we can watch Xander and his 19 game hitting streak... Great to see jr. Doing so well...
  4. Well his velocity was at 92-94 last night. Hes just not commanding his pitches. The cargo hr was a good hit...That one was out of the zone and in the dirt. He went and got it...the other two, as like most of them this year, left the yahd. Always seems to have runners on too.. He knows hes out of the rotation , at least for his next start. I imagine they will have to get somewhat creative because hes not hurt. Hes said a number of times its not physical, so a DL stint would be an obvious lie which isnt uncommon. He's out of options and he would waste a spot in the pen... He needs to be traded if Erod is better, or figure out a way to get him to the DL and a few rehab starts... I doubt his option is picked up for next year. Not sure why it would be at this point. He looks and sounds defeated. I never like to see any ballplayer like that. Hope he can rebound, whether with the Sox or not, and have a decent backend of his career.
  5. Yeah, thats just too many stats for me...i do get the need for some, and the fun of it. I can tell if hes squaring the ball up though. I dont need a stat to tell me that.
  6. Im figuring (hoping) for at least around 260ish 310-20 OBP with a bunch of doubles.
  7. I dont think it would cost a lot to get Hill either. Not like. Top prospect or anything, but a couple decent ones. Any ideas what you guys would think it would cost to get a Hill or Pomeranz? Im not too sure of their worth on todays market. Maybe a guy or two from 7-20 in our system?
  8. If Buch is still the same, which it very well looks that way, then im sure one way or the other he will go on the DL or something. This depends on if Kelly still looks good, and if Erod is good. Price, Wright, and Porcello are going nowhere right now.
  9. Im not sure if this will be put the the sox offense thread, but looking at a couple posts and seeing what JBJ, Xander, and Papi is doing in his final year, i figured Id start a thread for it... We can talk about JBj and Xanders hitting streaks, Papi climbing up all the offensive numbers lists in his final year making history, or even some of the old teams of the 70s (or earlier for some folks older than me) or the 2003 team with the crazy offense they had... A thread about records that have been broken or still stand for our players throughout history... Red Sox player that made, or are making history...
  10. Vaz will have some struggles this year getting his swing back and continue building his offense as he was when he got hurt. Also needs to get his throwing accuracy back a little too. The Pop time and arm strength seems to be just like it was before the TJS, so thats encouraging. Vaz has a Good line drive swing with gap to gap power as we saw last night with that triple. Over the next couple years i believe his offense will improve and we will no longer have to have this conversation about his bat...
  11. Just wondering if i can change the name of this thread to just DL/injury news? Or maybe YOTN can. Seems it may be better as a catch all for the disabled list or injuriy news....
  12. Its good to finally see JBJ dominating this little battle...been doingnthis for a little while now on the former BDC board. Maybe this message board has brought JBJ some good fortune:p
  13. "Maybe I need some of your stash." Lol, you would not be disappointed.
  14. What Im enjoying watching is Barnes taking over what was to be Smiths role in the pen. Hes hitting 98+ on the gun and starting to really fall into the role of a reliever. Seems like the transition from Starter to pen has happened for him. Last year when he was pretty much new to the pen, he was still throwing around 94. Now he's firing at almost 100 MPH. If Barnes cntinues to step up, he will be a big factor in that bullpen this year. Also allowing the team to keep everyones arm properly rested throughout the year.
  15. Or maybe knowing that he has 5 years of control they figure theyll pay him the minimum and still have him for another three or four years with a stronger arm and cheap $$. I mean, im sure they hoped he would be ok and figured into this years plans...But he has 5 years of control. FA in 2021. They probably knew he was a big risk for TJS, like most did.
  16. And that my friend is baseball...there were other options at 13m, but my guess is they had more negatives attached to them...in the sox eyes anyway...maybe the Sox/DD were waiting a year to see who was available, how their own guys worked out, ie;Erod/Kelly and the prospects....I dont think anyone thought Owens wouldnt be able to find the plate, kellys injured shoulder, Johnson having friggin anxiety, elias being very hittable, and Kopech breaking his hand because hes an idiot, aetc.... I dont mind them picking up his option this year. Next year? Maybe not so much...
  17. From what ive read and heard, the asking price for a starter the calibur of a Carasco or Syndergaard will cost a hefty haul... It may only take one MLB player and prospects, but i think you understand what it will take... I also agreee that it wont be easy to acquire that top starter. We have to match up perfectly and be willing to pay the price without hurting the current roster...Unfortunately It usually hurts a bit...
  18. They have to talk about him and a couple other as trade bait if they want a top flight young starter...you dont get one without the other...
  19. Moon, my friend...i have been telling you for a few years that your trade proposals of 6 prospects for one guy is too much quantity and not enough quality... They dont want "darn good" prospects for elite talent, they want elite prospects and probably some Young controlled Proven MLB talent. I think the Sox wouldnt part with Xander just because there isnt anyone to replace him and hes looking more and more like a perennial All Star. Id say either one or even two of JBJ, Mookie, and Swihart or Shaw would have to be available in a trade as well as a couple from the top 5... 3-4 top players/prospects But for me to give up that much it HAS to be for a proven young controlled TOTR starter.
  20. Heres my quote... Never said Thor was available...nor was i meaning to give up all of these kids in one deal.
  21. The Mets have been looking for offense since last year. They have plenty of pitching. With that said, i said a guy LIKE Syndergaard and also said i wasnt saying he was available. Im pretty sure they arent letting him, or anyone go fpr that matter, if they are in the race. Thats kind of a given... My point was giving up top talent for a young controlled totr type.
  22. Your guesses about Xander and JBj are head scratchers....Xander was 5th for a GG last year, but good thing he knows hes not "the greastest ss"...and JBJ, who thinks hes Gods gift? lol...where do you come up with this stuff? Talk about just chucking something against a wall...Xander is one of the best SS in the league and JBJ seems pretty humble to me, especially after what it took for him to get, and stay here the last two years...usually people form opinions based on facts and solid info...Im just wondering what info gives you these opinions?
  23. Yes, hes played OF, SS, and was a pt catcher his jr and sr years in HS. I agree. I dont think it hurts his value at all. Hes got a little ways to go as a catcher, but im sure GMs all know this. But the kid is very athletic and should be ok. Hes getting plenty of time behind the dish in AAA and dont doubt he will become at least average on D as a catcher. Hopefully better than aveage...but Youre right. He needs to make sure his offense is good because thats gonna be his ticket. Who knows, maybe Farrell will have him put the gear on for a game while hes up.
  24. My bad. I didnt mean all four, but I can see how you would think that. I meant i would start with top names like that and not try to make it a quantity over quality thing or try and give them our garbage. I would give them at least two of those names and maybe three if they demanded it...
