  1. I was just putting out my thoughts on what prospects I liked and didn't, and which ones are better used as trade chips. I didn't know that made me arrogant and blind.
  2. 2012 AL Wild Card.
  3. Dick Enberg.
  4. The rest of the lineup are all pretty undisciplined. Hard to blame a guy who has been up for a month on that total. If the Red Sox go get Napoli, they would double their BB% at just first base.
  5. I'm guessing Joe Maddon if anyone at all.
  6. That would be the worst move of the Cherrington era.
  7. Bay is a total corpse, but I like the idea of the expiring contract.
  8. What prospects do you think the Red Sox should keep, and which ones should the Red Sox move? Boegarts - Keep Bradley - Sell (Keep Ellsbury) Barnes - Sell (I don't think he's the bonafide ace everyone makes him out to be. We could get a monster starting pitcher with Bradley and Barnes as bait. I don't think either of them are future stars) Webster - Keep (I like him more than Barnes. Better stuff, more advanced given ages) Brentz - Sell (4th OF type, who can't play CF) Cecchini - Sell (He's blocked, but a five tool player. If he hits for a little more power, he could be a huge trade chip) Owens - Sell (Fastball is just OK. I wonder if those K's are due to deception) Swihart - Keep The rest of our system isn't that great. Marrero has potential, but not enough info on him. I'm not too jazzed about the others.
  9. I want the Red Sox to sign Ellsbury long term. 9 WAR players don't grow on trees, and he might come at a slight discount.
  10. Haha, you're right. I see a lot of Ozzie Smith in him, but I'm probably guilty of wishful thinking.
  11. Haha, someone's mad. If I wrote HOMEGROWN next to Iglesias, would it be less lame?
  12. Very true. I think we need at least two starters, so we can bump Buchholz and Lester down.
  13. He'd be a lot of team's number one right now.
  14. I've never seen Ordonez make that lob toss that Iglesias made last night. No other SS in all of baseball makes that play. .600 OPS is an exaggeration, but there's a lot of value in that glove.
  15. Iglesias is a better defensive SS than Ordonez was.
  16. He's still was a 4 win pitcher, despite the slow start. His contract allows for a buyout for those years that you covered. Pitchers like Lee tend to age well, and he's under control for three years. I think they'd want a Barnes or Bradley in the deal to make a swap. That's if they would consider trading prospects. Philadelphia isn't a small market, and they will be looking to reload next year. I wouldn't surprise me at all to see Victorino back with them next year. He's still been a 3 win player, despite his rough year. It wouldn't surprise me at all to see him still get 5/75. He's going to have a lot of suitors, too. I think that will be the deciding factor in getting him a multi-year contract. I do like the idea, though. Yeah, but ERA is not very important when it comes to minor league pitching prospects. He struck out 160 this year, and it is likely the Cardinals were having him work on certain pitches, before he breaks into the big leagues. He was rated the eighth prospect in all of baseball, and has fantastic stuff. I like your idea, but I don't think we'll get that type of impact prospect for a rental.
  17. If he can OPS .600, he should start at SS. He's had to have taken away at least 10 hits this month.
  18. 20th HR tonight. .916 OPS in September.
  19. Ellsbury - CF ($12,000,000) Pedroia - 2B ($10,000,000) Ortiz - DH ($15,000,000) Hamilton - RF ($20,000,000) Morse - 1B ($5,500,000) OR Napoli ($12,000,000) Middlebrooks - 3B ($400,000) Gomes/Nava - LF ($3,000,000) Lavarnway - C ($400,000) Iglesis - SS ($2,000,000) Saltalamacchia - C ($2,000,000) Ciraco - INF ($400,000) Kalish - OF ($400,000) Gomez - 1B/COF ($400,000) Johnson - SP ($14,000,000) Jackson - SP ($14,000,000) Buchholz - SP ($8,000,000) Lester - SP ($11,000,000) Doubront - SP ($400,000) Lackey - SP ($16,000,000) Bailey - CL ($6,000,000) Tazawa - MR Breslow - MR De La Rosa - MR Carpenter - MR Bard - MR Mortenson - MR
  20. Bryce Harper is awesome.
  21. Lee's contract isn't horrible, and he's a great pitcher. It's going to take a lot more than those three to get that deal done. The Phillies are expecting to win next year, so I doubt they want prospects. Victorino isn't going to sign a one year deal. St. Louis won't give up six years of Miller for one year of Ellsbury.
  22. Are you scared about stopping Jamaal Charles next week? Looking forward to that game. It's awesome that Week 4 already has big implications for both teams.
  23. Napoli rakes at Fenway Park, and I don't see him getting a big contract. If he starts falling into the $30-$40 million range, the Red Sox should snap him up. I definitely go 3 X 13 for him.
  24. Brandon McCarthy may not play next year, and it's pretty risky to assume that he can be your ace. I really don't like Swisher at the cost he's going to fetch. I think the Red Sox should just go higher AAV for Hamilton, and shorten the length of the contract. He's a 4-5 win player for the next two years at least. I like the Jackson move. He's an underrated pitcher, who always gives good innings. Delmon Young is f***ing terrible. I wouldn't even trade Nava for him.
