  1. I have bipolar disorder. I don't need a medical degree.
  2. Shane Victorino has ADHD. Not a700hitter, but the rest of you are stuck in the f***ing Stone Age. People with mental illness can be treated with therapy and medication. It's not like he's off medication.
  3. Piersall has bipolar disorder, and the "nervous breakdown" is called a manic episode.
  4. Maybe I'm biased, but people on medication are relatively stable.
  5. I wonder if the Orioles will go for the bullpen game.
  6. I don't either. He'll be 29, in 2013. A five year deal would bring him to age 34, and he's one of the better control pitchers in the game, so I'd have to believe he could survive a dip in velocity. Also, even if he is just a number two, he's still better than anyone on this staff.
  7. He's a good option to have as AAA depth. I hope we can keep him down there. He has some value hitting RHP.
  8. With more eyes on Hamilton, it could also be more likely that he would avoid alcohol. He managed to avoid the booze after losing Game 6 and 7 of the World Series. I think he has some willpower. Greinke isn't an alcoholic for all we know, so if he went to the pub after a game, I don't think that would be a big issue. Besides, who the f*** are you to claim familiarity into the lives of these two men? How could you possibly know what their triggers are, and what they consider stress to be?
  9. That still doesn't make him the MVP. Trout almost went 30-50, and is best defensive CF in the game. Miguel Cabrera is a gifted offensive player, but he is beyond awful at 3B, and provides no value on the bases. Cabrera will probably win, but there are other valid candidates.
  10. Have you even seen Bogaerts play?
  11. I think he's been on an antidepressant ever since he returned to baseball. He's also seeing a sports psychologist. It seems to have worked pretty well for him. Stop being so condescending. Greinke came back from his depression and anxiety issues, and now he's one of the best pitchers in the game. I wouldn't put anything past him.
  12. We'll suck if that happens.
  13. No, he's really good at baseball.
  14. Isn't that the point of a discussion board? To discuss the Red Sox? I don't see why it is out of the realm of possibility for them to sign Edwin Jackson and trade for Josh Johnson. That would be two good pitchers to add to the starting rotation. I'm not asking for Verlander and Hernandez.
  15. I agree 100%. The Red Sox need two front line starters at the minimum.
  16. Definitely. Trout is a 10 win player this year, and his team won more games than the Tigers.
  17. .777 OPS. Gomez could probably do that. I'd rather them spend the coin on Napoli, or make a trade for Michael Morse.
  18. And if you take away the three good months from Verlander he is better! Some would even say the best in baseball!
  19. No, he's a free agent after his contract expires. He can talk to any team he wants. In 2007, his rights were still owned by the Seibu Lions. The Red Sox paid money for the right to negotiate a contract with him. It's similar to a transfer in soccer.
  20. What's your point? Should reporters start speculating on every single baseball player because they may have heard something? That's ridiculous if you believe that. Unless you have a solid source, and some evidence you shouldn't report it.
  21. I'm just saying that having Ellsbury in CF maximizes his value, because he is an excellent defensive CF. We could move him to a corner, and play Bradley in CF. That's a possibility, and I'm not against it. Didn't mean to sound arrogant. I just think we have a lot of holes in our major league roster, and we can use our financial advantage to move some of our lesser prospects to upgrade the roster. I'm not saying we should trade them for a rental, but maybe we could move a few of them for another cost controlled player.
  22. The chances of that being the lineup are pretty low.
