Nava has some limited value as a platoon LF. We probably could move him to the Dodgers as a filler until they get Crawford back, but I don't see us fetching anything more than a reliever for him. Maybe a C+ prospect at the very best.
What are you talking about? Getting Josh Hamilton makes any team better. If the Red Sox can get him at 4 X 20, they should sign him immediately.
BTW, I love it how everyone is writing off the Red Sox for two years. They have a ton of assets, and a large financial advantage over most their competition. It wouldn't shock me at all to see the Red Sox back in the playoffs next year.
Are you f***ing serious? Why do you write homegrown as if that negates the Yankees massive monetary advantage over the majority of the league? Did you ever stop to think that the Yankees can retain their homegrown talent? The Rays are about to lose BJ Upton, who will probably wind up in Yankee Stadium in 2013. Oh, maybe the Rays can write HOMEGROWN next to BJ Upton. That would keep him in Tampa for sure.
I don't complain about the Yankees payroll, but this was a stupid argument.
Are you serious? One guy hitting .200 will sink the team? He's going to add some value with his glove.
Look at Darwin Barney. He's not a good hitter, but he's a 2-3 WAR player because of how talented a defender he is.
If the Red Sox team is this bad next year, it will be because they had no starting pitching for the third consecutive year, and that they had another year with lots of days spent on the DL.
The Marlins would be adding payroll, and getting one player for a year. They have payroll limitations, and they have been the worst team in the NL, save for th Astros, since the AllStar break.
They probably want cost controlled players.
100 percent positive that he didn't mean "you are a bundle of sticks." The first amendment protection doesn't apply to the Blue Jays, because they aren't the government, and they aren't even in the United States.
Really stupid, and it makes sense why the Braves dumped him for a reliever.
