  1. I think that you are right. He'll stay in right though because that is the best place to have him on this team. The age old undebateable arguement is that he could get hurt going anywhere or doing anything, which is correct but I do think that it comes down to what position he makes the team better in. I think that it is right field.
  2. He's baaaaaack!
  3. We have to stop meeting like this. I suggested last month that the farm was going to be rebuilt. It is apt to take more than a month.
  4. I would like to see Eovaldi signed by the Red Sox for 3 with a possible option because he is 28 and would likely provide us with a solid solid mid to upper rotation game for the length of his contract. He has a rebuilt arm and many think that his best years are ahead of him. His post season heroics were outstanding for sure but certainly alone do not give reason to sign him - not by a long shot. Pretty sure everybody knows that. What we did see out of this kid was the grit and determination you really see in true winners not the make believe kind. He has suffered a lot and has dealt with it well. I don't think that the teams interested in signing this kid up are doing so simply based on what they saw this past post-season. There obviously is something special about him to go along with the fact that he consistently throws strikes and can generate speeds of between 98-102 mph on a devastating fastball. No he is not the next coming of Nolan Ryan but he very well could be a great catch for whatever team signs him. I hope that it us.
  5. Hey look - I couldn't get past the part where you said that I fabricated mystery teams. I didn't fabricate anything. That expression was used numerous times lat year. Not sure notin why you feel you have to do that stuff. Kind of like the "internet doctor" you claimed that I dreamed up. I don't think that I have to do much to try to convince anyone that DD is masterful at what he does.
  6. I hope you know that I was just fooling around with the Slasher man. lol
  7. Concise, clear and to the point - I didn't have to wander through reams of ******** only to learn that your opinion because you have all of the significant data compiled must be the correct one. This my friend is one of my favorite posts!
  8. Boston got the coverage for sure but we don't know who actually had real interest in signing JD. 4 or 5 or maybe even more mystery teams. I think that there probably was quite a bit of interest, simply a situation where no one bit on the asking price. It is always just a guessing game regardless of how many times we read 4 years and 60. Doesn't mean that it is what he will get. I said earlier that something I like about DD is that he doesn't tip his hand. We might all be surprised at what gets done. Once again, I'm thinking that 28 year old with the beat up arm winds up back in Boston and I will be delighted.
  9. Lest we forget - remember last year how there were all of those supposed teams ready to hop right in there and gobble up JD. One thing that I like about DD is that he won't be showing his hand at the table. You just don't know what he is up to. It wouldn't surprise me though if Eovaldi winds up in Boston and of course as a starting pitcher.
  10. Who would ever believe a quack like that right! And you certainly are right about the fact that we need to be saving our money. I hope to hell that JH can at least make his current payroll obligations. Times are tough and boy are they ever going to get worse. Hey I'm for bringing back both Buch and Hanley but only on the cheap. Maybe we could even get that other fat little bugger who liked to hang out in the crapper - what was his name again. If DD spends any money at all this off season it will only prove once again that he just doesn't get how to build either a team or a farm system.
  11. I don't think so - more to it would be my guess. Has nothing to do with his hair either.
  12. yup - and most of the time he is one of the posters I pay the most attention to (as are you of course). I don't think that the thought of moving Mookie back to second would gain much traction but it definitely has been thought about and discussed in Boston. Hey - there have been times that I thought that it might be a good idea. I like our outfield rotation as is right now. I also like the Pearce Morehead combo at first as well. I just don't think that second base warrants extra attention right now. I think that it is covered. Spud mentioned that possibility of even bringing Kinsler back ( much less $ of course) for defensive purposes if need be. Not a bad idea. I wonder how many people will comment now telling me what a horrible fielder Kinsler is because of his miscue during the series.
  13. What hasn't been brought up at least 20 times here? It is just silly to suggest that there is much of a clamor even here to move Mookie back to second base. Saying that it has been considered and that it could be done doesn't mean that it has a lot of support.
  14. Who really are these fabled obsessed Red Sox fans? I have heard a few people suggesting it but they certainly didn't sound absolutely sold on the idea. This is what happens here.
  15. I don't think that there is even a slight chance that Mookie winds up back at second base. I also think that all 2 or 3 of the people here who have expressed a remote interest in seeing this happen will probably react just fine if our gold glover stays right out there in right field. Second base will not register much of a number on Cora's scale of pressing things that need to get done.
  16. They would have to have Cora's number first and ask him if he would be willing to give that good old boy another try. lol
  17. There will always be concerns about signing any starting pitcher who has been at it for any length of time. It is always a risk that can certainly turn out bad. I think that Eovaldi would be worth the risk.
  18. I just must have taken exception to the part where you kind of hinted that the doctor's statement was just some internet quote. He sounds reliable and knowledgeable to me. I have no clue whether the Red Sox have done anything with respect to Eovaldi or not. I'm sure that they will do their due diligence. I would love to see him signed and my opinion is that comparing him with Buchholz with respect to the possibility of future injury is not really much of a comparison. It's ok though that there are differing opinions. I would sign him to 3 and an option at between 12 and 15 yesterday.
  19. Eovaldi having that information released publicly just makes sense. I don't think that he is stupid which he would be if he did not allow this info to be made public. We'll see what happens but I don't see any more reason to be concerned about his arm than I would be about anyone elses arm.
  20. notin - come on. It is your idea of the 2 step backward shuffle. I never advocated for anything. You do like to read things in to my comments though. As for HIPPA laws, they mean nothing to me. Now I'll play you - You can discredit the doctor who performed the surgery if you like, I won't. I'm willing to accept his opinion before I do yours although possibly you have some surgical experience in your brilliant background as well. By the way - I know nothing about HIPPA laws. As for the Red Sox, I'm very sure that they will do their due diligence with respect to all things medical. Maybe they will even give you a call and ask for your opinion.
  21. Dr. Christopher Ahmad - the doc that performed the surgery on Eovaldi and just recently re-evaluted his arm seemed to give him a pretty good health report. What you are suggesting the Sox do has already been done. Maybe he is just some internet doc who knows nothing but I think that that is probably unlikely. This part - Steve Austin and rebuilt body parts - ouch once again. You just might make me curse at you. Are you unable to just state an opinion without being a jackass?
  22. I know that you are going to provide information to show that I am wrong - that actually is a compliment - but I am going with the latest medical information that I read about Eovaldi. I don't think that there is much of a comparison between Buch and Eovaldi. I have no idea anymore than anyone else does about how much he will get paid this year but I do not see the risk that you do. That arm has been rebuilt.
  23. Thanks for posting this. I think that this take is right on.
