I can't recall anyone who was seriously suspected to need TJ, didn't have the surgery, and went on to have a productive career. Now is as good of a time as ever to fix all the s*** in his arm. He could possibly DH next year if Ortiz doesn't resign, and if not my guess is he'll be back by the AS break. His power might return to a fraction of what he used to be, maybe he'll even get the ball into the outfield once in a while.
