  1. Well that was a freebie.
  2. Pestano is all over the place, can't locate the fastball and can't move the slider. Either a walk or a hit here.
  3. What is Don talking about? Was he ever fat?
  4. What's Lester's pitchcount? My gameday is broken
  5. Whoa Gomes grew pubes on his chin.
  6. Drew fails to impress and Sox go back to experimenting at the SS position, eventually calling up Bogaerts. Victorino's a pleasant surprise. I say .275 / .350 / .440 with over 30 SBs and good D. Ortiz spends most of the year injured or not a 100%, but still ends up with respectable numbers. Dempster, Lester and Buch all end up with eras around 3.6 - 3.9, but none emerges as an ace. After an impressive start, Doubront finishes weak as his inning marks grow. Bullpen sucks. Only Breslow and Miller have remotely good seasons of there. Team ends up 85 - 79, no wildcard. Cherington-- fired.
  7. How? Let's go team by team. BJs- They got better lineup, better rotation, we both have crappy 'pens. Jays win. Rays- I'd say we have the better lineup, they obviously have the better rotation and D, their 'pen is a question mark but I think they have it better then us with all the young starters. At 2013 I'm not sure who's better. Yanks- Honestly they have a better lineup, much better bullpen and probably a better rotation too. Advantage *sob* Yanks. We're better then the O's, I don't see how their going to repeat. Overall I see it as either 3rd or 4th for us. And with the tough teams in the west we'll be lucky to get into the lower WC.
  8. Either Napoli or trade. I agree on no Laroche. "The Napoli problem is familiar territory for Boston as they put language in the contracts of right fielder J.D. Drew and right-hander John Lackey to protect from pre-existing medical conditions. According to sources, the Red Sox are working to get Napoli to agree to similar protection in his deal." I wouldn't mind giving him over 40 for three if this is introduced to the contract.
  9. I really don't think the 160 to 200 jump is trivial. He really struggled with those 160 innings in terms of stamina. I think 150 over a 3.8-3.9 era is reasonable. If he goes much past 160 there will be consequences numbers-wise.
  10. Drew for 10 mil seems crazy. Very crazy. Best case scenario he earns about 2 WAR, and that if he stays healthy and doesn't decline much. And 2 WAR for him is a pretty optimistic prediction.
  11. With the Yanks and Jays aging and stuck with contracts I would've thought it's a good time to rebuild, hold for a year or two and then go back strong to the market. But oh well, another mediocre at best team should be alright too.
  12. Good points. Are there many Salty trade rumors though? Wouldn't they'll play Naps at first? I've been out of the loop for a while.
  13. If anything they'll move Fowler to LF, he's been horrendous at center and BJ is a pretty good fielder.
  14. Where do you put Cody Ross? Am I the only one here who thinks we should rebuild instead of going for the big FAs again? It seemed like during the season everybody was about selling and developing the farm, but all of the sudden I see all these posts about signing Swisher / Hamilton and trading our young guns. I don't know what to make of this. Also, I think Morales and Doubront work well together cause each of them has about a good half a season as a starter and they could split the long relief role for the rest of the season.
  15. Well ba bye to Naps. Ross is one of the best backup catchers in the league so I don't think they'll sign Naps to play solely at first.
  16. 3/150? What happened to rebuilding? I don't think the team should go for any of the big FAs right now. Especially if they aren't pitchers.
  17. Edit: Sorry double post, please delete.
  18. Without getting as deep into it as you went (Thats what she said), here are some ideas I'd like to see: - Sign Napoli, for realzies: he's a beast at Fenway, he's a middle of the order right handed bat, he can spend some time catching and at first along with Salty and Lavarnway. - Resign Paps: He deserves it, let him stay here as long as he's productive, he earned it, he's good in the clubhouse and he can handle the bat. Don't let him go, have some heart. - Be creative with the rotation: Morales and Doubront could each be very productive for half of the season, before they tire out. Let them split a starter and a long relief role. Tazawa was so productive I'd like to see him start a little at spring, I wish they would let him do that last september but oh well. Based on scout reports and stats I think Alex Wilson can fill a role in the bullpen. He can throw mid 90s at short bursts, he'll only throw his fastball & slider, which would solve his lack of depth pitches, and he did put up very good numbers at AAA for two consecutive seasons. Could be a cheap right handed arm. - How about Brad Asmus? : He had some managerial experience leading my guys to the world baseball classic, he's smart and the players will respect him (Respect was a real problem with Valentine). I think he could help Bard with whatever he's going through and help Salty and Lava improve as defensive catchers. I also think he would handle the media here better than most.
  19. Yeah I agree with that. Throw in in another meaningless trade. If he stays he can provide back up platoon in case Sweeny fails or Ross suddenly remembers he's only a beast against lefties.
  20. When was the last time we saw so many decisive wild pitches in the playoffs?
  21. I didn't figure this is Don! He has much better chemistry with Remy then with Buck.
  22. Either Kobe or Howard are going to play below 40 games. Thunder don't need reinforcement, they got time on their side.
  23. Carding is a soccer thing, we don't really do that with other sports.
