We would've had Reddick as an outfielder and that's something around 3 more wins. Bard would still start though and Aceves and Melancon suck regardless of the role. However that extra 13 mil. would have meant either no Papi or no Ross, and you're stuck paying 13 mil a year to a closer when you don't have a competing team.

How about Ike Davis? The Mets are said to be shopping him to move Duda to first. With the sort of rebuilding we'll see the Sox should compete again as he reaches his peek. His average should rise due to his babip getting back to usual (He had a .1 drop in his babip between this year and last).

Douby and Morales can't both be starters, they wouldn't be efficient three months into the season, they both can't go deep into games, and it's an injury hazard. In my opinion, they should each start for half of 2013 and long-relief for the other half. I can see them having a combined 3.6 ERA with something like 130 IP each.

He's brother is still a better option in my opinion, but this looks like a very good idea too. He can play center too if they decide to trade Els.

No McCarthy. his FIP is a cheater, I value SIERA much more. His BABIP have actually been low the past two years, pitchers who get less Ks support higher BABIPs then usual (And vice versa). Plus his HR/FB rates have been low the past two years, courtesy of the Colosseum. He can forget about that in Boston. It would probably take a three year deal to get him, I expect him to start here with around a 4.5 era, and in his last season get over to the 5s.

I thought this is sort of unrelated but then I saw someone wrote a thread about Paplebon not being nice enough to children. I'm making an uber lineup analysis, the kind that you enter players and their statistics and it gives you the best lineup. The best mathematical one I found only bases itself on SLG and OBP. I'm trying to make one based on speed, average, walks, strikeouts, basically as much as I can and I need some stats if you got them. Some points I'd like to know: - How BSR (aka ultimate baserunning on fangraphs) affects a runner's chance to go 2nd to home or 1st to 3rd on a single. - How a slugger or a generally good hitter effects who is hitting infront of him (I'd expect a drop in walks and rise in swinging based stats, but exact numbers would be very helpful). - How separating lefties and righties in the lineups effects the hitters (How likely we are to see a lefty coming to face 3 back to back lefties versus R L R L combo for example) Also if you have any other cool and fairly simple ideas I can implement it would be appreciated. I'll hopefully post the finished result on the internet to show you all how the Sox could have only lost 90 games this season, instead of the 93 their aiming for.
