It appears as though Oswalt doesn't want to play for anyone. Well anyone that actually wants him to play for them.

More "worst case scenario" Franklin Morales turns out to be Mranklin Forales, he borrowed his friends Identity in order to enter the major leagues when in actuality he is significantly older. Despite being on the bench, Peter Gammons will demand that John Lackey earn the Cy Young vote, for his masterful achievement of a 0.00 ERA. Junichi Tazawa will become a permanent piece in the rotation, ordinary fans do not even realize that he is not Daisuke Matsuzaka. Clay Buchholz breaks his entire spinal column in half, he still manages to pitch 150 innings despite only being a torso on the mound. Jacoby Ellsbury tests positive for being a robot. ... I think this is getting a little out of hand..

Nah, I'm pretty sure it was right, haha. Basically said the same thing I did with my post. At the very least it could be a refreshing break from gripping at each other's throats. As much as I hate that idea, I don't hate it. Miller isn't a starter though, he's a middle reliever. Maybe, and I'm REALLY stretching this when I say maybe, he could be a decent swingman. He's much better off in the bullpen than in the rotation, even if he's the 10th starter in terms of depth.

Should the Red Sox consider Bard as a starter in 2012?

I think they will have plenty of depth in the pen. If they really have to they can bring up one of the retreads they signed for depth, or possibly even move Bowden, Doubront, Tazawa, etc. up into a BP role. -
Aren't they planning on rotating ARod and Jeter in the DH role through the season? Would be a great way to keep them in more games.

Worst case scenario: Buchholz goes down with back pain again. Miller takes the ball in his place. Miller puts up a 5 ERA, while only being able to strike out Josh Hamilton, and no one else. Beckett hyperextends his knee before the AS break, Silva takes the ball in his place. Bard manages to go 90 innings before starting to complain about elbow stiffness. Padilla beans every Yankees batter in the lineup in the first inning of his first start against them, and subsequently gets into a fist fight with Bobby V. David Ortiz forgets how to hit LHP, and puts up another lackluster season. Carl Crawford gets upset because Terry Francona criticizes his batting stance on baseball tonight, he soon after is on the DL with a vagina sprain. Matt Albers has a great first half, but then he remembers that he's Matt Albers. am i missing anything yet?

Chances are they will bring up one of the retreads, I'm assuming it will be Padilla since he seems to have the most upside out of the bunch, that or maybe they give someone like Tazawa a shot, which I would like to see actually. I wouldn't be surprised to see guys like him or Bowden on the roster later.. perhaps only in a bullpen capacity, but nonetheless, I wouldn't be surprised either way. As long as we don't have Miller out there every fifth day, it might not be so bad.

Let me add that none of that is meant as a call out or personal attack towards anyone, I'd just like to see some objective discussion on the game, and if someone opinion differs, it's okay to debate.. but agreeing to disagree isn't always a bad thing. I've been reading this forum for a long time before I decided to join, because it seems like a decent community, and I've been wanting to fit in somewhere that I can discuss my love for the game and this team. Anyhow, I don't mean to offend, I just get a little heated sometimes. Okay, I'm done, now back to the topic haha

I believe it was Jack Nicholson that once said.. "Can't we all just get along?" I get there are differences of opinion, some more based in fact than others, some people here don't like others attitudes.. You gotta remember though, we're on the same f***ing team. This is Red Sox Nation. It's not some petty ******** arguments. This is all semantics, everyone wants to be right and they want the other side to acknowledge they are right. The name calling, the straw man claims back and forth. It's ridiculous really. The fact remains that we are all Red Sox fans, we love the same team, so there's no need to be gripping at each others throats over some stupid s*** thats get said on a forum. Those are words. WORDS. For real though people, if any of you are too shortsighted to see the ins and outs of others opinions, and possibly even respect them. What are you doing here?

I know no one wants to think it, but it may be true: The Scutaro deal may have been made just to pay for Ortiz's arbitration. Or there's something we aren't being told... Perhaps we won't have a pitcher before spring camp.

AA would probably say: "We'd like to see it happen, but I'm not sure if now is the right time. Later might be, but I'm not sure of that either. Right now just isn't the time." -
Jackson may provide more innings though. Oswalt I'd say is a better pitcher regardless, but his injury history is something to be weary of.

Actually everyone in my family was raised on the braves thanks to my grandfather. I jumped ship in the early 90s when I saw Roger Clemens pitch a few games. I was a little league pitcher then, and I wanted to be just like Roger the Rocket. So I followed the Sox every change I got, and here I am.
