  1. Vizquel probably could still field the position quite decently. He was a beast. I suspect his hitting would be a bit of an issue.
  2. And when you're making a bunch of moves it's guaranteed there will be misses.
  3. The RF bullpen wall is potentially lethal, but Mookie knows how to navigate it by now.
  4. Mays and Henderson are certainly much more apt comparisons to Mookie than Pedroia.
  5. Nobody does, ken. Not even the owners and the GM's, I bet. So what do you do, just let Mookie play his prime years somewhere else?
  6. Logical Larry. Sometimes I think he's just trolling us.
  7. The stuff about the weak farm gets a little tiresome. The farm is weak right now. I get it, I really do.
  8. As did Eovaldi of course. D-Rob does have a lot of Yankee on him, but that wouldn't stop me from signing him.
  9. He could bring a hefty return alright. But how are you going to get back more value than you're giving up?
  10. It is a big difference. In the example I gave, though, the AAV is $30 million vs. $35 million, so it's better for tax purposes.
  11. Trader Dave don't need no trades this offseason. He just needs Moneybags John to keep the wallet handy.
  12. DD is a notorious trader, but with the Sox the only non-prospect of any note he's traded is Travis Shaw.
  13. The big story is whether the monster auctions for Harper and Machado actually materialize as expected.
  14. There is another thread but it was a silly 'let's trade JBJ because he stinks' thread. If my opinion mattered, I would rule in favor of notin on this one.
  15. Kind of a hefty price to pay in prospects, though, isn't it? How would this compare to the Sox trade for Kimbrel, would you say?
  16. Sometimes we get a little hung up on the years. Dollars and average dollars are pretty important too. Would you rather sign Mookie for 10 years, $300 million or 8 years, $280 million?
  17. It's kind of surprising that one of Manny Machado's nicknames isn't Machete.
  18. Yeah, now that the final money numbers are apparently in, this looks like a weird-bad deal for the Mets. The other options being pointed out certainly seem to be better.
  19. Re-posting this for moon because I'm sure he missed it and the chance for a good argument.
  20. 'Talent evaporator' - I think that's how some people see DD. LOL
  21. In 2013 Ben signed Dempster at an AAV of 13 or 13.25 million. And he was just expected to be a back of the rotation innings-eater. Pitching is just expensive.
  22. I'm pretty sure they will be taking all that into consideration. It certainly seems unlikely they'll be able to retain both Sale and Porcello if they do sign Eovaldi, with Price already on the books. The thing is we have a small window. If we don't sign Eovaldi, presumably we have to sign another starter instead, and the options don't look that great.
  23. Eovaldi's combined WHIP for the 2018 regular season was 1.126. His FIP was 3.60. His K/BB was 5.05. All good. This should not be about Eovaldi vs. Porcello. But Porcello will be a free agent after 2019.
  24. Robertson would certainly be a good add. He's a cheapskate tho-that'll have to be fixed.
  25. Yeah, the Rocket turned out to be kind of a tool, but there's no denying that he revived the franchise when he came along.
