    I too have learned that when it comes to the niceties of MLB contracts, it doesn't pay to be too sure of yourself.

    It's not really a great shock that when a name free agent goes directly from the Sox to the Yanks or vice versa, some people are going to regard them as a traitor. I'm sure some Yankee fans felt that way about Mike Torrez and took some extra pleasure in the Bucky Dent game as a result.

    Um, no, some guy named Martin Kleinbard who works for a CBS local affiliate is not well-known. Had you ever heard of him? But sure, you can always find lots of unsubstantiated crap on the internet, obviously.

    Yes, it seems simple enough. If Leon clears waivers, he either accepts the assignment to Pawtucket and collects his full salary, or he declines and it and becomes a free agent.

    Eovaldi was kind of a special case. Lots of apparent upside trading off with lots of risk. It was a fat contract based on his career numbers and injuries but maybe not indicative of a trend.
