  1. You know us JBJ Pollyannas are desperate when we're reporting a .001 increase in OPS.
  2. Personally, I think while it's fun to talk in theoretical terms, it's even more interesting to look at what the real managers are doing. I do tend to think Cora is a manager trying to blend new school and old school stuff. And I find it interesting he puts JD in the 3 slot and the 4 slot about equally.
  3. He's more likely a Wright off because of his physical issues. He can't get and stay healthy, and I assume that's why he turned to the PED's.
  4. Walden, Brasier and Hembree were credited with holds. Taylor was not. Judgment call, I guess.
  5. This is half of what was originally projected for Kimbrel. It doesn't seem like a crazy deal to me.
  6. If Keuchel pitches well, $13 mill is far from unreasonable, considering the small commitment and the potential for a playoff run at *no additional charge*. It's a sizeable if of course.
  7. Too much money for coupon-clipper Hal.
  8. Chalk it up. Station is on a Streak.
  9. Danny Duffy...Brian Flynn...KC is throwing the Fighting Irish at us today.
  10. Weber isn't even Mike Maddux.
  11. "Advanced metrics sure put a lot of money in my pocket!" - Jason Heyward
  12. JDM has been toggling between 3rd and 4th since the start of last season.
  13. I don't know, I have no issue with Bogey in the 3 spot.
  14. I can't really assess the return. But it's out of the ordinary for a team like the Red Sox to sign a player to what was at the time a big contract, and then trade them after one season. I'd say yes, Theo wanted him out of town, but maybe wouldn't have traded him unless he got a return he could live with.
  15. Do you seriously think the primary reason Theo Epstein traded Renteria was media pressure?
  16. Lefty on the mound changes things?
  17. The key point is that Theo dealt him, taking a financial bath in the process.
  18. Hardly anyone thinks you're insane for wanting Porcello back.
  19. You can certainly make a case that Renteria struggled due to Boston pressure, based on the following circumstantials. 1) 'Warning' from LaRussa that he wasn't a good fit for Boston. 2) Lousy season. 3) Shipped out promptly by Theo at a loss.
  20. cp, I set up a separate thread for this like I promised. Why won't you post there?
  21. 2019 - 10 mill 2020 - 16 mill 2021 - 16 mill 2022 - vesting/team option thingamajigs with 1 mill buyout
  22. Cora says Devers has been working his ass off on D. Great stuff.
  23. Maybe that was as good as it got.
