  1. If you go back to when it happened, everyone seemed to agree it was the only thing that could be done at the time. Same thing happened to Beltran of course, and he wasn't even under threat of discipline. As for now, the media speculation, including Shaughnessy, seems to be that the Red Sox are very open to having to having him back. We're hearing how ownership loves him and the players all love him. Not a single negative thing other than the one-year suspension. All signs seem to be favorable.
  2. It's just a prediction Nick.
  3. He's a 2020 placeholder, book it.
  4. We shall see, we shall see.
  5. Rehiring can be the right thing because he will have done his time, served his one year suspension, just like manager Hinch of the Astros.
  6. So you're going on record that the deciding factor in whether the Red Sox re-hire Cora will be money?
  7. Apples and oranges. Cora's salary is a relative drop in the bucket and doesn't count for luxury tax purposes. The only question is whether they have mutual interest in a reunion.
  8. Not a very apt comparison.
  9. If the Red Sox want Cora back, they certainly won't lowball him on money.
  10. Yes, they could have. But he was mentioned 6 or 7 times in Manfred's report and there was a black cloud over him.
  11. If Boston wants him, Boston will have him.
  12. Me too. But it would have put them dangerously close to the 'cap', I think.
  13. Ron Placeholder.
  14. My favorite part of Ancient Aliens is the stuff that's demonstrably real - Stonehenge and the other incredible ancient structures.
  15. That's one of the reasons I steer clear of fantasy stuff.
  16. So excitement about Babe Ruth's 60 home runs and Roger Maris's 61 home runs was dehumanizing?
  17. I assume you're referring to "advanced metrics".
  18. It was eons ago, but I think it was first reported that 3 people who were with the team in 2018 came forward.
  19. Apparently the Red Sox problem is that someone 'informed' on them. And Manfred would probably rather not have to conduct any more of these investigations. In fact he probably dreads the thought of another 'informant' popping up.
  20. The 2019 Yankees were obviously cheating, too. Their OPS was about 100 points higher with men on than with the bases empty, no doubt thanks to 'special adviser' Carlos Beltran, the same man who, upon joining the Astros in 2017, after 2.7 seasons with the Yankees, told the Astros they were 'behind the times' with their sign decoding. If Mr. Axisa wants to go with the 'where there's smoke there's fire' speculations, he might want to dig into the NYY as well. That would be multiple offenses by the NYY too, of course.
  21. My bet is he returns to the Red Sox.
  22. He's coming back for a second term, buddy. Four more years.
  23. Not a big shock, but if Brady had re-signed with the Pats, Gronk says, he would have been back with the Pats this year too.
  24. And after so many hilariously wrong posts by him on this thread.
  25. Nobody cares about that poor schmuck, of course. I imagine the Red Sox will look after him, even if it's off the books.
