  1. I don't get the Schilling hate. He tried to start a video game business, the local gov't backed him up, and it went under, as so many other businesses do. No big deal. Who's to say the employees won't receive their benefits soon? Also, for what it's worth, i played through Kingdoms of Amalur and it's a pretty good game.
  2. Haters gonna hate.
  3. Except that Reimold plays in Baltimore, which is definitely a harder park than Fenway's wall, on the other hand, i do see your "how he fits" point.
  4. Or it could be an adjustment period to becoming a starter, and he needs mechanical adjustments. Not enough time has gone by for the tinfoil hat theories to start.
  5. Nolan Reimold is, realistically, a better LF option than Nava imo.
  6. Fair enough.
  7. I'm aware. But that fluctuates year-to-year. The norm is, however, that CF is the weakest offensive position of the three over large samples.
  8. I agree with most of your post but disagree with the bolded part. The amount of playing time from backup OF'ers in LF is statistically significant considering the amount of AB's and drop-off from regular to bench player. Maybe not .800+ OPs, but still significant. There's also the fact that guys like Willie Bloomquist and Jerry Hairston, no-bat supersubs who play multiple positions would also be included in the analysis.
  9. It's May 25th. Let me guess, even with his OBP issues and extreme streakiness you were a staunch Reddick supporter, so now here you are, ready to rub in everyone's face how awesome he's been over less than two months in Oakland. It's too early to evaluate the outcome of the trade.
  10. No he hasn't. Have you watched LBJ at all this year? I mean i understand that suggesting the Heat trade Wade is kinda silly, but the hyperbole is not needed.
  11. I had two hairline rib fractures a number of years ago acquired in a story i'm not eager to recount, and let me tell you, it is not nice at all. You can't even pee without your whole torso hurting. So how can you expect to swing a bat unless the ribs are fully healed?
  12. Let me just say i think Tito did overuse Bard quite a bit in late August/September which caused him to burn out. The question is, what other choice did he have with Sox starters averaging about 5 IP/game in that span and Bard being his most effective non-closer reliever?
  13. It pisses people off because it's idiocy, fyi. It's easy to say "this guy should be playing even though he's hurting" while comfortably seated in a couch/office chair.
  14. The eye is real. No one is disputing that, but remember that not only does he not have a lot of power, but completely in contrary to what you say, gap power for a switchie who will mostly bat lefty does not translate well into Fenway unless the hitter is an oppo power guy. As for the rest of your point, a sub-.735 OPS he may not become. He may also not become a "below-average by positional standards" hitter (even though i doubt the AL average OPS for LFers is .735, but i digress). But his lack of skills other than OBP without speed and middling defense don't make him a starting option on a contending team, but rather a good backup.
  15. Broken ribs and a shoulder subluxation? Those are real-deal injuries caused by impact plays, not boo-boos. Be realistic, it's not a "toughen up" problem.
  16. Bench player. And what does "proving that to your satisfaction" mean? He's played less than 20 games. He can get on base and hit for some contact, and it's admirable how hard he plays the game, but that's about it. Join reality.
