  1. Funny, because that's what they got him to ground out on in his first two AB's.
  2. You always consider yourself to be right on everything no matter how much evidence is provided to the contrary. Par for the course.
  3. I have taken about six day classes in my entire college career, and i have an undergrad and two masters'. Hate day classes.
  4. But in this case, Doubront edges out Rivera in both BB-Ref WAR (although slightly) and Fangraphs WAR (by a large, 2.2 win margin).
  5. You're not very good at detecting sarcasm are you? Read that again, but slowly.
  6. http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2008/11/11-9-08-captain_obvious.jpg ^Jacko's business card. Just add an M.D somewhere in there.
  7. Sir, i do not condone the language you are directing towards my good friend jacksonianmarch. People with his level of intellect, able to consistently point out the obvious are difficult to come by in this day in age. I humbly ask that you stop such harsh remarks towards a gentlemen of his intelligence and comedic ability.
  8. I've stated this before and i will again: The formulas for ERA+ and (x)FIP are not perfect, and cannot be seen as gospel for park-adjusted statistical purposes, specially when a season hasn't even finished. It is common knowledge however, that Kaufmann suppresses offense while Fenway enhances it. Holland may be (and probably is) getting a boost from an imperfect formula that doesn't do Koji justice in regards to park/division adjustments. As for Cy Young consideration, i think neither should get any.
  9. That's because it's not true. Koji has a better ERA, ERA+, WHIP, H/9, BB/9 (separately)and K/BB in more IP, all while toiling in a tougher division and stadium.
  10. Trevor Hoffman.
  11. This is what is was getting at.
  12. You said the comparison was a "good" starter" against an "elite" reliever. Petitte is an average starter, while Mariano is an elite reliever. Your analysis is not following the rules you set up yourself.
  13. Good and average are not the same thing.
  14. Can you show me some evidence of this? I'm an avid reader of baseball analysis and i've never seen such an idea lobbied for before.
  15. So you're saying that with the way the Yankees are playing, all three of what could be identified as expected outcomes (getting swept, sweeping, anything in between) might actually happen? Why i'm so surprised i couldn't even finish my morning coffee. You, sir, are a true intellectual for bringing such astute observations to our attention. Hat's off to you.
  16. He only beat cancer once.
  17. Car breaking down mojo is working.
  18. No it doesn't, because it still presents the fundamental flaw of overextending relievers, bringing them into unfamiliar situations, and the fact that a group of relievers will never be a better bet to start a game than a league-average starter.
  19. This is nonsense. The Sox are also among the league leaders in OBP, XBH and stolen bases. When your approach works and your lineup is clicking, you don't change things up to make room for a kid because he can run. Please stop.
  20. Also, the middle of the order are the 3, 4 and 5 hitters. SoxSport is clearly spouting a bunch of whiny nonsense.
  21. a700 talking about others being snarky pricks. I'm not fixing myself anything, since i just had some delicious irony for breakfast. Just stop.
  22. Yes, because that one AB certainly justifies regular playing time at the MLB level. Are you serious with this?
  23. Josh Reddick's 2013 OPS is .658. Just sayin'
