  1. Brock Holt is the real Jason Bourne.
  2. I don't see why the Sox are high on this guy. Any pitcher who can't command an 89 fastball is "meat"
  3. I agree since offense isn't the problem with this team. It is pitching, both starting and relief.
  4. Lyons and Remy felt free to criticize Farrell's decisionmaking twice in the last three or four games. I think the word is out among the insiders at Fenway that the manager is on very shaky ground. I believe the next two series are crucial for Farrell. The Astros aren't playing well and the Braves are awful. If the Sox lose two out three to Houston and then three out of the four to the Braves Farrell is gone. DD has fired a manager early in the year when he was in Detroit.
  5. I agree completely with everything you posted above with this addendum. I think it is fairly obvious that the only way to take advantage of Swihart's bat on a regular basis, is to develop him at another position. He will never be the regular starting catcher baring an injury to Vaz. DD as well as most fans see that. That's why he was sent down to see if he can get more playing time in left field.
  6. I am not beating Pablo when he is down but reacting to your characterization of criticism of him as hate. Pablo is only incidental to my post, it is your tendency to demonize those who disagree with you as being hateful that is the issue.
  7. I am in the school of thought that Swihart was always going to be sent down as soon as Vazquez was ready. Remember Vaz had a somewhat abbreviated Spring Training. In addition, I suspect that the FO told Blake Swihart that the plan was to get him playing time in the outfield. Defensively Swihart is far behind Hannigan, Leon as well as Vaz. Looking at Castillo's failure to hit ML pitching consistently and his defensive lapses, I suspect that FO may see Swihart as having more of a future in left than behind the plate.
  8. You want to make this a moral question which it isn't. You incorrectly and disingenuously try to characterize criticism of Sandoval as hate which of course it isn't. This tone of moral superiority is unbecoming. The fact is those closest to Sandoval realize his behavior is self destructive and recognize he is his own worst enemy.
  9. What is particularly distressing is the fact that Sandoval isn't the only bum bloated contract the Red Sox have. It will take some time to rid the club of them.
  10. How can you walk the leadoff guy to open the game. Give me a break
  11. Not unexpected that they would DL him.
  12. I believe Holt had a minor injury. I think it is fairly obvious that even Farrell has lost all confidence in Sandoval. Buckley in the Herald thinks Pablo is gone by May Day which is an apt pun btw.
  13. Virtually every position player except Sandoval had a good day. Once again he showed that he isn't ready to field his position at the major league level
  14. Seeing Holt at third reminds me why did Cherrington ever sign Sandoval in the first place. Sandoval is now the third man on the depth chart at that position.
  15. Brock Holt is the real Jason Bourne
  16. Travis Shaw just showed everyone why he is the starting 3rd baseman. Sandoval never makes that play.
  17. That's why Shaw is starting. Pablo never would have gotten near that ball.
  18. I think you miss the point. Any retail outlet which sells any licensed product makes a profit on the merchandise it sells. The license holder gets a percentage of the gross. However the owner of a retail outlet makes its profit as well. That's why a team has an incentive to sell its merchandise at its owned retail outlet. Of course a team may also have a concessionaire handle the retail outlet at the ballpark.
  19. I think it also depends on where it's bought and sold. For example, MLB merchandise sold at the ballpark or through the club's owned outlets nets the club a higher percentage.
  20. In the ST games I saw at Jet Blue he looked lost in the outfield. Here is yet another example of a Cherrington screw-up.
  21. If the Sox make the playoffs it will be Dombrowski not Cherrington who will get the credit. Dombrowski still has a long way to go before he can undo the damage Cherrington has done with his ridiculous contracts.
  22. I don't think Taz is likely to either be as reliable or as good this year as he was in the past. Farrell misused and abused the pen last year. Taz took the brunt of that abuse and that is likely to take its toll. Moreover, Carson Smith's unorthodox delivery puts undo stress on his fore arm and elbow. It remains to be seen if he can regain the velocity if and when he comes back. The only one truly solid in the pen is Kimbrel.
  23. Koji is coming back from a wrist injury. At his age, one shouldn't expect too much from him. This is why I am very concerned about the bullpen especially in view of the nature of Carson Smith's injury.
  24. How is that different from what I posted. Cherrington got fired. He didn't get fired for the farm system. But he did get fired, nonetheless.
  25. No pitching and a ridiculous payroll of non performing players. Remember Ben got fired. He didn't get fired because he left a team in very good long term shape.
