  1. The investigation isn't over. Cora was let go because of what happened in Houston, MLB has not completed its Boston investigation yet.
  2. Cora is a patsy takes denial to a whole new level. Cora isn't a victim, he is a perp. Cora is a cheat. He will always being branded as a cheat. He is no role model for the young. Moreover he did major damage to his team the repercussions for which will be felt for years. He blatantly disregarded the warnings Boston received after Applewatchgate. Your phrase that you hope Cora is a standup guy and doesn't rat anyone out is right out of Goodfellas. If I were Cora I certainly wouldn't take that as a compliment.
  3. Only to those who deserve it. He got the best walk to the mound to remove a pitcher.
  4. Can not understand the hate for Sholwater. Considering what he had to deal with in Baltimore he did a terrific job. Moreover he is exceptional at managing a pitching staff
  5. I phrased it poorly. The Apple watch fiasco certainly should have come up. The Sox brass should have raised the generic subject of using technology illegally to gain a tactical advantage especially since they were on notice from mlb. Moreover you will have a hard time convincing me that DD and the Red Sox brass weren't generally aware of Cora's reputation at stealing signs. The best that can be said there was a failure at the top to do their due diligence when hiring this guy.
  6. Clint Hurdle made the mess that Ben Cherrington was hired to help clean up.
  7. That was written four years ago long before the Pirates players and coaches were physically assaulting one another and Clint Hurdle was befuddled how to stop it.
  8. I certainly agree. I was listening to the press conference with my wife and we looked at each other amazed about how the Red Sox FO could use so many words to say absolutely nothing, It also made me wonder how high in the Red Sox organization this scandal reaches. It strains credibility to believe that sign stealing in Houston never came up in the interviewing process when Cora was hired especially in light of the Apple watch business.
  9. I assume that is a joke. Hurdle was an absolute disaster in Pittsburgh. His tenure there make the BV era in Boston look like a model of manager player relations
  10. Too many posters are making excuses for the cheating that went on. Cora was clearly the ringmaster in Houston. He got caught. MLB needs to make an example of him. Ban the SOB. Let him apply for reinstatement in several years once MLB gets all the links worked out of the replay system.
  11. You are still in denial. Rosenthal's most recent piece in the Athletic seems to indicate that Red Sox cheating may have been more extensive than previously thought possibly to include the post season. I think the outstanding questions are who else besides Cora and DD will be named and sanctioned and what did ownership and Kennedy know and when did they know it.
  12. I have thought the same thing for some time. DD really pissed Henry and Werner off and they haven't thought clearly since. Now they are literally stuck between one enormous rock and a very hard place.
  13. Hunch is less problematic but Cora is going to have a big target on his back for years to come assuming he is not banned which is an assumption I wouldn't make right now.
  14. I think Bloom will stay away from Roenicke unless or until MLB gives Boston some assurances that his name is not linked to the investigation. I think that is true for all the internal candidates. Remember no one yet knows if the buck stops with Dombrowski or if higher ups get sucked in to this scandal.
  15. His departure before the punishment may have saved him from a long term banning. Nevertheless, I think he will probably have an indefinite banning with the possibility of reinstatement in two to three years.
  16. Wake up and smell the coffee. The Sox face the loss of at least four draft picks not to mention the possibility of others in the FO being sanctioned. This could set them back years. Not to mention a forever tainted World Series title. Cora was a freaking disaster.
  17. Until the extent of the cheating is known, it needs to be someone outside the organization.
  18. You can't be serious.
  19. That is why I called him a self righteous hypocrite. I am glad he is gone. Considering the potential sanctions which may be coming down and the long term damage such sanctions may cause to the Red Sox Cora now goes down as the most destructive manager in Red Sox history.
  20. Cora departs with some honor. I was rough on him but the mutually agreed formula gives some dignity to all concerned. It may have saved him from being banned long term.
  21. I was appalled listening to Merloni's rant. Cora is a spineless arrogant self righteous hypocrite. Unless he resigns immediately he is without honor. If he waits for the commissioner to formally announce his disciplinary action, he should be banned for life.
  22. Listening as well! Shaughnessy believes that Boston in effect gave the middle finger to the commissioner by their action in 2018. He believes that their punishment will be at least as bad if not worse because of it.
  23. I think it is a distinction without a difference.
  24. I know that but this is Boston's second offense.
  25. And the penalty for ignoring such a warning is normally more severe than that for a first time offender.
