  1. I think it is unrealistic to expect any significant acquisitions or trades until MLB issues its final report on Boston and/or until the Sox have named a new manager, the latter being the most urgent. I just can't see Bloom being focused on any thing else but the managerial search. That's not say that if another club makes him an offer that he can't refuse, he moves on it. I just don't see that as happening right now.
  2. Crisis management pr is not about merely satisfying the press but getting on top of the story and having a consistent message. The minute the story broke for example they should have had a statement ready. Frankly they haven't handled this mess badly from a PR point of view compared to the other messes they have had. Of course we do not know what they know. I thought Chaim did a good job. I would encourage him to do more press availability. I think he presents a good face to the organization.
  3. I do not think they love wallowing in negative news as much as they are really terrible at crisis management public relations . In their defense however their news conference was a major improvement from the way they handled Francona's firing.
  4. No, No Yes to Buck. Primarily because he can be Bill Belichick with the media and that would be fun to watch.
  5. I Hope He is right but then again how would he know. MLB is usually pretty tight lipped.
  6. He let the clubhouse get away from him.
  7. Not for gambling per but for associating with known gamblers.
  8. I certainly agree. I think a banning would likely prevent him doing games on ESPN or MLB. I believe MLB has final approval on the announcers and analysts
  9. Scoscia often was accused of calling pitches from the dugout.which he denied. I think he would be too much of a pain in the ass for Bloom who has enough on his plate without having to deal with Scoscia's oversized ego.
  10. I was very negative on Thto at the time. However in retrospect, he is one of best managers in the game.
  11. I hope Bloom listens to Pete and follows the same course that Astros appear to be following.
  12. Astros interviewed Showalter yesterday. Based on the list they published it looks like they are going outside the organization and are looking for experience. It will be curious to see if Boston takes a similar course although I doubt it.
  13. Even I wouldn't go that far. However, I do think he should be banned for at least two years. Unlike suspension however, I think he should be required to apply for removal from the banned or restricted list.
  14. First of all Rose was never accused of throwing a game. He was accused of betting on his own team. Secondly stealing signs clearly affects the outcome. Using technology illegally is not a minor infraction. How long it has been done is immaterial. It is illegal and is being enforced. Get over your mournimg over a cheat being caught.
  15. Hunch and the GM were fired because they were supposed to be in charge but obviously weren't
  16. You're projecting again. I never jumped to conclusions. Cora is a cheater is hardly jumping to conclusions.
  17. That is exactly why what Cora did was so despicable he got his boss fired because he was too weak to stop the SOB. Any team who ever hires Cora to do anything would be playing Russian roulette. I would trust him to be even a member of the grounds crew.
  18. Cora devised and implemented the scheme he made changes to adjust to changing circumstances. he got his boss fired. I am not exonerating anyone. I am saying that all the evidence suggests that Cora was the mastermind. He is a cheater who is going to take down two teams. Whether he had accomplices only points out how destructive he was. Ban the SOB.
  19. Players were given immunity in order to get evidence against the ringleaders. Baseball makes the distinction between the leaders and the followers. Nevertheless it is specious to say that because the players weren't sanctioned mitigates the fact that Cora is a cheater and deserves what he gets which in my mind is an outright ban.
  20. Bull s*** It is exactly the same as throwing a game. You illegally received information from an outside source. Sign stealing when done within the game without electronic means has always been legal. He concocted an elaborate scheme to steal signs after he specifically knew it was illegal. His despicable act caused his boss to get fired. A boss he clearly knew did not approve of the scheme but who did not have the moral courage to stop it. Pete Rose never hurt anybody but himself. Cora was a one man wrecking crew. If I were AJ Hinch I would be thinking with friends like Cora who needs enemies. Ban him!
  21. They may have but that in no way mitigates what Cora did.
  22. It is illegal. It is just as insidious as gambling. It destroys the integrity of the game. Like Rose Cora knew it was illegal when he did it. He deliberately violated the rules. He is fundamentally dishonest. Every person I ever fired for cheating or illegal behavior on the job always apologized and said how sorry they were. Yeah they were sorry alright, sorry they got caught. Cora is a cheat, he defrauded the fans, he defrauded his opponents, he defrauded his bosses, he cost them their future. He deserves to be banned from baseball for the chest that he is.
  23. Okay he is a well spoken cheater. So what he still is a cheater who deserves the same treatment as Rose.
  24. Cora used technology that was specifically prohibited. He deliberately endangered his employer's long term interests after being warned.. The Red Sox treated him better than he deserved. I am not an attorney but I am willing to bet that the Red Sox could sue the SOB for damages which of course they won't. He is a cheater and deserves a significant period of exile from the game if not permanently. If it were up to me he would get nothing less than what Pete Rose got.
  25. Cora had been clearly identified as the ringleader in Houston so he was gone in any case especially after Houston fired Hinch. The point is other than Cora no one connected with Boston has been public ally named. So no one knows who else has yet to be implicated.
