  1. The English Premier League resumed play today.
  2. If MLB doesn' t play this year. The backlash will be enormous. While most including me will place the vast majority of the blame on ownership, the players won't escape unscathed. Both sides would need to swallow their pride and figure some way to work together to regain public support. I just do not see any leadership.from anyone involved in MLB who is capable of bringing everyone together.
  3. Apparently 25% of owners is what it takes to prevent the commissioner from unilaterally starting season.
  4. Reports now say between 6 and 8 owners do not want to play this season
  5. I know I am a distinct minority but American Football is boring and is a dying sport because of concussions.
  6. My hope is the independent leagues may resume some type of play.
  7. Too.much money too much greed. No one wanted to find a solution. Pox on both their houses.
  8. Manfred is now quoted as saying that he is not confident that they will play this year after all. I say if they do not play they will drive one more nail in baseball's coffin.
  9. Which owners? Small market ones with a weak local TV contract? I am curious as to their reason.
  10. It isn't just racism, it is deep seated ethnocentrism.
  11. White liberals in Massachusetts run away from the fact that Boston is a racist city. There are still parts of Boston that are no go zones for African Americans.
  12. That what asterixes are for.
  13. Crawford is certainly going through a rough patch. A five year old child drowned in his pool last month. The two incidents are unrelated but it isn't a good time for him right now.
  14. If both sides do not get their act together they will kill the goose that lays the golden eggs. If the game loses popularity franchise values will collapse. The destruction of the minor leagues pose a big long term threat to the viability to the game. Everybody loses. Quit the nonsense and work out a deal or a pox on both their houses.
  15. I remind you of the story of the scorpion and the frog. Which side is the scorpion and which. The frog, take your pick!
  16. They had better because the future of baseball as a major sport is at stake.
  17. I understand the owners have rejected the players proposal of a 114 game season.
  18. What has me truly concerned is that both parties will fail to reach an agreement. If that happens baseball will suffer immeasurably.
  19. I heard a couple ex major leaguers discussing the issue on MLB radio. They are of the opinion that one of problems inhibiting both sides is the upcoming CBA negotiations. Instead of trying to resolve the problem at hand, the parties are posturing over future negotiations on the CBA. In any event, there is a growing concern if both parties don' t achieve some compromise it could set back MLB for a generation if not permanently.
  20. The question isn't that Felger sucks or whether Massaroti sucks because they both do. The question is why do they still have a show? Listening to them is painful.
  21. My grandmother died from the Spanish flu in 1919, thank you for reminding me of that painful moment in my father's life
  22. Like I said your disregard for history is interesting. I guess you don't believe in learning from past mistakes.
  23. There is a reason why no one has tried to organize a player's league in any professional sport. Whether it was 130 years ago or last week the point is the same. Players need owners. Your disrespect for the lessons of history is truly interesting.
  24. The old players league folder rather quickly. Without owners there is no organized bsseball. Each needs the other to survive.
