  1. Maybe but not likely, No & No
  2. No way is this on BV. Aceves knew the situation. He stunk the night before. He isn't a closer. He has blown 7 saves. In any event regardless, Aceves was out of line. There were reasons why New York didn't want him. We now know what they were.
  3. I heard on MLB radio that BV wouldn't let Aceves on the team plane for the West Coast trip. He had to arrange his own transportation out west. The question is what does this mean for Acevves's future in Boston.
  4. I would be shocked if Cliff Lee leaves Philly
  5. I don't see the sox pursuing big FA starting pitchers unless it a one or two year deal. I think are going to be quite conservative with respect to the FA market.
  6. No one wishes more never to see Dice-K in a Red Sox uniform again but if he pitches like he did today the rest of the year the Red Sox will offer him a one year deal. Why because that has been Ben's MO to stockpile pitchers.
  7. If Dice-K pitches like that in his next few starts,(and that is a big if) I can see the Sox offering him at least a one year deal for short money.
  8. Youk isn't coming back to Boston. He is part of the past not the future. Time to move on.
  9. Okay make it Tuesday:D
  10. Gomez reminds me of Brian Daubach.
  11. He sure is fun to watch. I want him at SS next year. Although I think he'll be a super sub, I see him playing a lot next year including a stint from time to time in the outfield
  12. Aceves is out the door next year unless he really does a major apology. I don't see it in him. Wouldn't be surprised to see him on the waiver wire tomorrow.
  13. This was John Henry's deal. It all started between Kasten and Henry when they spoke at the owners meeting. Several groups tried and failed to buy the Dodger's who evantually sold for a over 2 billion dollars. The groups that bid on sports franchises aren't interested in the current rosters. The look at the financials and future room for flexibility. Right now the Red Sox financials are very bright and there is a great deal of flexibility. If Henry is interested in selling, he won't have any trouble finding buyers and he won't have any trouble getting his price. I'd suspect something north of 1.5 billion.
  14. He is paasionate about himself. Now we know why the yankees let him go. He is nuts.
  15. That's why BV was right to pull him.
  16. If they were looking to sell they would dump 250 million dollars in long term debt and underperforming liabilities
  17. Cook was pitching on short rest. He had a tough first inning he bounced back. He had a six run lead. I thought he looked gassed. Of course you take him out.
  18. 50/50 it is BV depending on what happens between now and the end of the year.
  19. Melancon is one of the reasons I don't think Larry will be giving Ben the keys to the car anyime soon.
  20. Melancon was one Bennie's great signings this off season.
  21. Aceves suspended for three games because of his meltdown yesterday. Seems that there is a new day in more ways then one.
  22. I wonder how Beckett and Mattingly will get along. Somehow I can't see Don taking any of Beckett's guff.
  23. Thank you for agtreeing to what I posted earlier. Kasten and Lucchino go way back. Cherrington simply doesn't have the contacts or experience to make this type of deal happen. To paraphrase one our young and intemperate fellow posters this is deal that the grey beards had to work out.
