  1. Actually I have had all I can stand of OB and whomever is the analyst constantly chattering about the Trop while the team that calls it home is kicking our ass regularly. Someday I think the Rays will be playing elsewhere. But OB's juvenile s*** about the Trop gets under my skin. So I admit to being a bit sensitive on the topic.
  2. Seem like the should have thought of him in terms of DH then. Whoops they have a DH....a few of them actually. What they paid for Yoshi sounds like the 2023 version of the Castillo contract. How did that work out.
  3. Defense generally is a problem. Anything not hit to Verdugo or Story is an adventure. And the pitching another component of run prevention is a huge problem. I would assert that Bloom is more responsible for both than Cora though I am not exactly a Cora devotee. I would likely toss both of them and start over.
  4. Its not like we have torn up the Rays playing in Fenway.
  5. Its the Sox fault and its the nerds fault. "defense does not matter....we got this little guy we think can hit and we don't give a f*** if he can field or not" Are you going to blame Yoshi for taking the money? Thats white of you.
  6. If you want to consider pitching a component of run prevention....hence defense......all in we are like a Hockey team playing without a goalie. "Gee Bob I don't know how that shot got to the back of the net. Did that go through the 5 hole?" "I don't know John. There is no goalie out there. So its all holes." I did say way early this year that it will take MLB a couple years at least to adjust to not being able to rely on the shift to cover for bad fielders. Will take a few draft sessions at least to get more athletic defenders out there in the field. That said at some point here there is going to be a Pitcher revolt based on this everything is a hit nonsense.
  7. I have empathy for people that are vertically challenged. Its not Yoshi's fault that he is in our OF.
  8. Cash waited too long to challenge. Figures....even when Yoshi makes a good catch....its not a catch. Maybe just maybe if the Sox buy a rack and stretch Yoshi out....he might at least be a LFer. Nahhhhhh We have enough DH's on this team to choke a mule.
  9. 57 pitches and not out of the second inning!!! Good night Irene Make that 58
  10. Sigh....is Abreu really a CFer? Is Yoshi really any sort of OFer?
  11. Yeah I do. Did you see how high it bounced when it hit? Line drives don't bounce that high when they hit. It was a long fly ball....should have been caught.
  12. Pop gun arm on the Rays CF to go with his other qualities in Center
  13. Now of course somebody will tell me that the play Yoshi just made was fantastic because he didn't fall on his face simply running with a glove on one hand. Yoshi is one of our multitude of DH's
  14. NOPE....doesn't deserve it. He was nowhere near running to the spot. Not even close. If you can't do that you can't play or should not be playing ML CF. That was simply a long fly ball. Keiemaire would have had to work to make that look exciting...which he has a reputation for doing. JBU just would have glided over the to spot and caught the ball. A competent CF may not have the instincts and first step of JBJ nor the closing ability and glove of Keirmaire but that ball should just have been caught. We have grown so used to crap fielding that we appear not to know what competent fielding looks like.
  15. Now that is how bad fielding does not show up in the states but had a major impact on an inning. The Abrau fly to CF should have just been caught. Though they don't have Kiermaire out there in CF any longer any competitive ML CF (at least of my generation of CFers) runs to the spot and catches that ball. Instead the Rays CF runs to some spot at least 10-15 feet away from the actual spot and can't make up the lost ground. Result....Ground rule double. Can't play CF that way and call yourself a competent CF. You are a hack playing CF.
  16. Pretty obvious that is no longer Kiermaire out there in the Rays CF.
  17. The is also true. Nothing really happened other than it looked 2023 Red Sox as hell.
  18. What I have noticed this year is the number of uncompetitive innings we have played and this is another one. Top of the batting order, almost could not have gone down more quietly. Rays come up .....3 runs. That was just another completely uncompetitive inning. Now an inning does not make a game. But they are in a 3 run hole from jump street. All that needed to make it perfect was an error in the middle of that mess.
  19. Another fine outfielder...this time in a Royals uni. Looking at his cheat sheet. Looking for the note that says "catch the f-ing ball STUPID".
  20. According to OB, Acuna played Mookie "off his feat" in the Dodger series. Last I looked OB, Acuna is wearing a Brave's uni and Mookie a Dodger's uni. So who watching this game cares.
  21. There are 15 teams in the AL. Of those there are three teams at the very bottom this year that are flat awful, Royals, White Sox and Athletics. 3 awful teams instead of the usual 2 awful teams. If you want to call those three teams barely AAAA teams I can buy that. They are AAAA teams at best. They have amassed records that boggle the mind. So 6 teams make the post season thanks to the expanded WC. That leaves actually 6 teams that are simply bad teams. The "mediocre" teams are the teams that have enough team to make the last WC card spots usually by adding at the trade deadline. Red Sox baseball ops told us how bad they were at the trade deadline. Were we not listening?
  22. Lots less with the expanded Post Season. Its a 15 team league. If you want to claim that the two teams at the bottom are not just bad but awful teams, AAA teams, I can buy that. But if you are one of the 7 teams that did not make the post season and did not finish at the very bottom of the league you are a bad team. The Sox play like a bad team. They look like a bad team. Their hitting is inconsistent and their fielding is laughable. Most telling they pitch like a bad team.
  23. I finally found something I like about the new post season structure...No its not that it is simply another thing that has made a fool out of Bloom. Its that the difference between the s*** teams and at least teams that are not s*** in MLB is being able to make the expanded WC. If you can't crawl up to make the new expanded WC....YOU SUCK. You are a bad team. I like certainty. It makes life easier.
