  1. It is not unusual for big emotional games to be mistake riddled as well as noted for memorable plays. Those big hits were just as tough to produce as anything else was. That said, had Cruz played the wall the way he should have, we would not have even been excited by that play. Cruz would not have even had to jump. At worst his back might have been up against that wall. You guys are right though...not as bad a play as Buckner's between the wickets. and I still have no idea why Wash pulled Feliz where he did. Actually both Larussa and Wash cracked a bit under the pressure showing signs of a hook that was quicker than quick. Totally wonderful experience though. I don't think I could have survived if the Sox were in this game. It is tough to have the all star game deciding who gets the extra game and last games in their park especially with DH vs no DH.
  2. Wow did you see the look on Ryan's face? I just hope the Rangers come back strong tomorrow night. If this game should say anything to the Rangers it is never give up...keep your focus and keep going no matter what.
  3. I could not agree more. I don't get it either as he has really got his head in a noose now. Did Cruz get hurt going for that call in right? Good night Irene...Cards win
  4. Napoli may end up WS MVP even if the Cards pull it out. There is not a performance out there that comes close to his.
  5. Love baseball...love this game. Can't we just have a game 7 all the way to April....please!
  6. In fairness to Paps, he had also pitched way too much coming down the stretch. Least we forget, we had three guys doing anything for us on the mound, Aceves...Bard...Paps. Tito probably went to bed every night saying Aceves...Bard...Paps. Starters were not going even 5-6 innings into games.
  7. That was the one place where Hamilton could hurt them with that bad groin of his. I am reminded of the ALCS between Yankees and Mariners where at the end of games 5 and 6 Yanks pitching coach was going to the mound almost every batter to instruct the pitcher telling him exactly what he wanted done with that particular hitter. If Motte had put the ball anywhere else, I don't think Hamilton could have jacked it.
  8. I have noticed lately that this seems to be a new plague with the modern ball player. Happens on foul balls, long balls....all over the place. Find the warning path....find the wall....find the ball. More and more these guys seem to be putting themselves in positions where they find everything all at the same time. Cruz did play that like a hand grenade but he had time to play it. Imagine how unexciting that would have been with Dewey Evans out there?
  9. Only fitting....it is the WS after all.
  10. Wow, Craig is looking outside, Napoli is set up outside and Feliz makes a mistake middle inside that freezes Craig at the plate. Funny game this baseball.
  11. In truth if not for him the Cards would have stood a good chance of being swept out of this series. Almost amazed that they still have a chance here. This would be much more tense if the Cards had managed one more run out of that bases loaded deal last inning. Furcal what the hell are you doing...trying to look attractive to the Sox. He came up with bases loaded so you gotta' at least take one stinkin' lousy pitch.
  12. First Manager for the Rangers was Ted Williams.
  13. Can you believe Larussa has left himself with a completely empty bench in the 8th inning like this. Can you believe that two guys in a row come up swinging at the first pitch, one a pinch hitter ridding the pine all game and then Furcal who has not been able to punch out a paper bag in the series. Heck for Furcal a walk is a run for God's sake.
  14. I am doing my best to talk up the Rangers. That should at least insure that the Cards come back in this game anyway.
  15. Gotta' hand it to Rangers particularly if it ends like this tonight. They have done a good many things right. Ryan has a really good perspective it seems to me. He has been a great pitcher but he seems to realize that his kind of arm is pretty rare so he does not really try to see pitchers through himself. He was an aging star so he seems to have a very very realistic view of what they are worth and the realities of keeping them vs cutting them away. Gotta tip my hat to him.
  16. Gee it looks like the Cards should have had that guy in the Navy uniform come out with a white flag.
  17. While I obviously was not a fly on the wall I think what bothers me about this is that it appeared from afar that the Sox had a plan built around getting AGons and the other pieces seemed to drop into place around that. It does not appear to me that keeping Beltre or VMart for that matter got much thought. "We're getting AGons...he plays 1st, Youk plays 3rd, Dave is the DH and that is that." It seemed to me that they had been so convinced that they were going with AGons and further had themselves so set in stone about moves around that one that they never thought about the team under any other terms.
  18. Wonder if Lynn has any more batting practice pitches in his arsenal. Been taking lessons on placement from Lackey.
  19. I'd like to say that both teams have stumbled and bumbled there way to the 7th and will finish out the game clean but these kinds of games usually don't go that way.
  20. I get the feeling that Crawford and Holiday will be starting a therapy group for left fielders in the off season. "We're OK Carl....you're OK and I'm OK....we're all OK.
  21. Holliday desperately trying to get himself fit for goats horns.
  22. And that is why Wash could not let Lewis bat regardless of how well he was pitching.
  23. Poor Young. It was almost like the baseball gods were toying with him as the runners leg went past his effort to tag in slow mo after having bungled the play.
  24. Can you believe this s***?
