  1. I absolutely believe this to be true and think that when they are matched up to other 4's and 5's we will have an edge. But then they have to give the ball to the pen and they are really weak. V will learn I think what he can and cannot do with that pen and once he does it will likely not as often have the catastrophic result it had today. But it is still weak. We will see some different arms moved in as well over time.
  2. Well I have been critical of the starters so maybe I have something to add. I think they are above average but in a sense the starters are a microcosm of the team in general as it compares to the league I think. Sure they are above average. However does that make them competitive with the best rotations? I would say no. I think the same can be said in a way for the team in general. I think they will in the end win a bunch of games. I don't think they are a 60 win or a 70 win team. I never have thought that. However I really do question and have questioned whether they are a 90-95 win team and I really don't think they are a 95-100 win team. Winning 88 games for example will put them above average just like their rotation is above average but won't get them to the post season.
  3. Well for one thing they will find a way to play better this year once they truly understand what they have or should I say don't have. Not convinced that means they can compete this year but they will play better. Ultimately I think if there is one macro issue I think they have to deal with, they need to keep a good mix of vets with contracts with young guys that are cost controlled. They cannot allow these big gaps to appear in that flow of talent and they have to be willing to cut guys away before they are on their last legs.
  4. Boy look at LL and JH. You can already tell they are looking at this through the prism of a marketing problem. I think they need to take a good long hard look in the mirror...not panic but make some changes in the way they do things down at the Fens.
  5. Blow it up does seem a bit extreme because they do have some good pieces. However I also think there are more issues than the arsonists as they have really lost games in every possible way this year. To much money was spent poorly...left ownership unwilling to spend this year....they thought they could get by with that in a year when other teams had funds to work with and spent them to improve. There also seems to be a desire to have guys finish their careers here. Nobody that ends up with a long term contract seems to get traded as a means of revitalizing the team. Everybody is kept till they retire or until the contract is up or at least until their trade value falls to a level that makes it hard to move them. At the end of the day it is the combination of personalities at the top of the organization that I think has eroded the team on the field to the point where it is today. Will be interesting to see what they do from here.
  6. Geez I think we actually needed a triple play there.
  7. He had not thrown even 100 pitches and was doing fine at least from appearances. Might have discussed it with V in the middle of the inning and might have pulled him because of what was discussed. However the pen is known to be weak already and Felix was doing fine. What is really interesting is that Felix would have had to come out at some point and it looks like whenever that was, their goose was cooked regardless
  8. C'mon Aceves get this guy
  9. Not sure why he took Doubront out knowing that the pen is a bunch of arsonists. If he was struggling I would have said otherwise but he was cruising.
  10. At lease Aceves is a tough guy...lets see what happens
  11. Has no choice here.
  12. V ya gotta go Aceves...no choice
  13. At this point I just want them to play tough. They still have a chance to win this game. Just don't go down with their tails between their legs. As s***** as this has been and as little faith as I have had on their ability to be championship calibre this year, this game could still be a defining moment on the plus side for them.
  14. Great at bat d-mac. I think the real problem folks is CC and Ells or no CC and Ells, this team just has to many holes. Not sure what they can do about it this year with as much tough competition as there is in the AL.
  15. Can D-mac get another hit?
  16. C'mon Cody..get us some runs
  17. Well if they do lose this game they will have lost every way possible...no hitting, poor starting pitching, poor relief pitching, porous defense....losing because of their closer is a long ago Detroit memory seemingly the least of their many problems.
  18. Well if there is one thing they have proven it is that they are all unreliable. V is going to have to get used to the idea that if they show not having it...he has to get them out of there...try another arm and see if that works. He keeps hoping they will work out of it and so far none of them have worked out of anything.
  19. I would bring Aceves into the 8th also unless Morales gets out of this and the first guy up in the 8th for the yanks is a LH hitter.
  20. Wow defense blows up in the form of Aviles...pen blows up in the form of Padilla and Albers.
  21. My God Fox when are you going to stop ...replays of the celebration of the perfect game
  22. f*** Fox I swear to God they are terrible. Just run the interview later...he did his perfect game thing
  23. C'mon Fox enough already get back to the game that is still going
  24. And Swisher just hit a grand slam 9-5
  25. I don't know what anybody can see but Padilla has loaded the bases for Swisher
