  1. The news from Pawland was that Tazawa was showing good stuff and he has shown that here as well. I happen to think that the year for this team may well be sitting down there in Pawtucket.
  2. They are tough to watch at the moment. I don't even want to think about how few innings we have lead. Our pen sucks but we hardly ever hand them the ball with a lead or even tied. So it is tough for me to spend much time pining for a better pen. I think we should thank our lucky stars that Doubront had Bard have done as well as they have as a 4 and 5 for starting pitchers. Have to hope they hit better. I think they will and hope they hit good enough and really worried about their defense with a pitching staff that is getting few K's. Lots contact so far. Only defensive saving grace is much of the contact has gone yard.
  3. A I am saying that he did not prove to be a 1 all of last year when that was the first year it was expected of him and it remains to be seen this year as well. I would not be surprised if at the end of it all, this year he ends up impressing us as something a blend of a 1 and a 2 and maybe he will impress us enough to say "that is what we expect of a 1". But he has not done it as yet...it is to early this year. Without question he did not do it last year. In part that is why I think the overall effect of the three guys is a 2. Being the 1 for a team is as much about the guy's pitching talent as it is about being able to take the pressure of being the team's stopper when the team is in a tailspin. That guy has got to be able to take the ball when the team has lost 3 in a row and go out and put up goose eggs. I happen to think that got to Lester last year and until he proves to me that he can handle that, he won't be a 1 in my eyes.
  4. My biggest issue with this starting pitching is that while we call our 1,2,3 big for us I think the overall effect as a group is that they are a 2. Lester is not consistent enough to be a 1 yet or at least has not proven it yet, (not this year or last)...Beckett does not go deep in games enough in games any longer to be a 1 (did not last year and don't think he will this year) and Buch is more like a blend of a 3 and 4 and maybe even a 5. Oddly enough, competitively speaking our 4 and our 5 may well turn out to be better than what other teams bring to the table in the 4 and 5 spots. But that is still OK with me. I never expected this team to be strong from the mound. As stated before that is not how they were constructed to win games. They were constructed to win games with offense and that has been the biggest disappointment so far.
  5. V wanted some air time in the commemorative uniform. Wants to prove to people 10 years from now that he actually did manage the Sox once.
  6. Nice at bat Spears...very impressive....hell Repko would at least have stabbed at one!
  7. Sorry if I a missed that part of the discussion. I did not think there was a suggestion that Arod could play Center, only that Griffey could play SS. My bad if that discussion was going in both directions.
  8. I don't get the Griffey comparison at SS at all. It is not even fair to Griffey. Ya' can't suggest that he would be as good at SS as a guy that has played there. Regardless of how good an athlete Griffey is ya' can't just toss an infield glove on the guy and expect him to play SS.
  9. Nice block Salty...outf***ingstanding
  10. The Salty of last April finished at .235 even with his mid-summer orgasm. He can't hit, can't receive and can't throw....Not even sure Theo would still have a hard on for this guy.
  11. Nice at bat Salty....Lavarnwayyyyy....Lavarnwayyyyyyy......Lavarnwayyyyyyy....are ya' feelin' me BC?
  12. Man thank God Youk wears that big pad...never seen a guy take so many right off the point of the elbow.
  13. Well if Agons is going to continue to swing at pitchers pitches he is going to chase alot'
  14. Anything with F in it has been a disaster for Buch today, FA, FC, no matter, they have all sucked...the cutter may well have been the worse so far I have to agree. However the first couple were off the FA.
  15. Home runs have been the undoing of the rotation top guys in general and once again these are moon shots...just epic home runs, helped by the breeze today no doubt but Nova has not exactly suffered.
  16. Oh my God I actually think I could have gone yard on that pitch
  17. I do agree that saying a guy is not a fan because he does not think the team he roots for has got the horses to go all the way is a little lame. If you can't root for your team unless it has the horses every year then you will likely be absent more than he will be.
  18. We need CC back badly. I am concerned though that now he is going to arrive in the middle of all this anticipation and hope and PRESSURE. CC obviously does not do well under those circumstances.
  19. Fenway Park hates the Yankees....like that one Nick?
  20. The question you should be asking is "what are the chances of another hot streak like they had in 2011?"
  21. Oh Nova was so sure Repko would swing at that
  22. Oh my God...that was almost a strike! I'm encouraged
  23. Way ta go Cody. Now watch Mr Selective again...this otta' be interestin'
  24. Geez he is throwing batting practice for crying out loud. If he even gets close to edge of the plate, below the waist, I get all excited.
  25. My God get him outta there soon please
