  1. Well at least it was win. Grinding away against the Twins is likely not what this team had in mind when it started ST. But at least it was a win. Beckett has been the best of the top 3 in the rotation. A good start out of him tomorrow should net another win.
  2. That was high...C'mon
  3. At least Aceves is not aiming the ball tonight. He was panic stricken aiming the ball against the yanks
  4. That was a lousy call at third. It almost looked from the way he made the safe sign that he was committed to calling the guy safe and then simply could not convince himself to take it back. Uncle Bud really needs to do something about these cruds. Ump crews seem to have fallen completely apart.
  5. Not sure about the other signings preventing the Paps signing. I am more inclined to the view that they simply were not going to sign a closer to that many years under contract. I think they might have even given him a little more money per than the Phillies gave him but would not have gone for that many years to a closer. I do think the bad signings, preventing some more general FA activity this year.
  6. Funny...Twins afraid to go to the pen and the pen gets Ortiz out for the first time tonight...thats baseball
  7. I can only hope three less outs for the pen actually makes a difference. It should logically. I wonder if Tazawa is going to get tossed into the 8th inning slot for now.
  8. Up to 110...another manager scared shitless of his bullpen I guess.
  9. Ross does it again. Never gets cheated.
  10. Pure luck...pure luck is the guy has his eyes closed and the ball lands in his glove. I don't see how you can call a defensive play like that luck.
  11. Luck unfortunately has very little to do with it.
  12. AGons...never met a first pitch he did not like
  13. Nice at bat Adrian...only saving grace...was not hit hard enough to be a DP.
  14. Wow an ugly play by their RFer. Auditioning for a big contract with the Sox
  15. to many walks...to many pitches in the middle of the plate....Smalley singing the praises of seeing lots of pitches...that is really another way to discuss patience at the plate. Maybe the Sox hitters should listen in.
  16. 3 DP's and still down 5-3 in the bottom of the 5th.
  17. They had no choice but to skip Bard....Lester and Beckett would have gone 7 days if they had not done that. I probably should have referred to my other posts but what I meant and the point I have made several times in the last few days is that compared to opponents 4 and 5 rotation guys, our 4 and 5 rotation guys have shown very well so far. Compared to opponent 1,2 and 3's not so good. Beckett has been a pretty solid 2 despite the Detroit blowup and has certainly been a more competitive 2 than our 1 and 3 have been compared to what the opponents bring to the table as 1's and 3's.
  18. Tellin' ya' Doubront and Bard are so far the stars of this staff and the stars of this rotation.
  19. Smalley saying ya' know the pitcher is not sharp when he can not keep an 0-2 pitch of the middle of the plate. Guess we have not been sharp to often this year.
  20. Damn Ross just missed that
  21. Completely unacceptable from the guy that is supposed to be your #1 starter.
  22. Notice how patient the Twins hitters have been...for a going nowhere kinda' team they are pretty disciplined.
  23. And that is what I was saying earlier today about Lester not being a stopper...gotta be a stopper to be a contending team's #1 pitcher.
  24. EEI kept replaying the Serling call from Saturday. Nearly ran off the road!
  25. Ya' mean whatever fundamentals took are being rubbed off?
