  1. Flu like symptoms. So with Springer and Altuve out you are going to remove Price in the 1st inning because he has the flu? Nobody knew about it before the game started???? He wasn't throwing crap in the Pen? BS.
  2. I know JBJ missed that down the middle pitch. But when he can get wood on those low inside pitches instead of swinging through them, he is seeing it as good as he is going to see it. JBJ is in his annual streak period. Enjoy it while we can.
  3. Devers robbed there. That was ridiculous. That was way outta' this shoebox
  4. Pulled him in the 1st inning. No velo and wincing when he throws.
  5. Boy that Spring Rotation Schedule has really worked out hasn't it Alex.
  6. Well, no Springer and no Altuve and we have Price on the mound. If we can't beat these guys now I am really going to start to worry about our Sox.
  7. Betts has already proven not to be excellent in CF where he simply does not get good reads on the ball. He plays too deep in CF, a clear sign that is is leery of his reads going back in CF while at the same time being tentative coming. This year alone in limited duty he as allowed three balls to drop at his feet in CF for hits. Getting good reads in the toughest OF position to get reads is the very talent that distinguishes the CFer from the Corner OFer. However Beni can play "average" CF as well as Mookie can and Mookie is an "excellent" RFer playing in the hardest RF to play in all baseball. In other words, it it illogical to take Mookie out of RF. It might be logical to take Beni out of LF if we had somebody to play LF regularly. We don't. JD is now clearly past playing even corner OF on a regular basis. JD is a spot corner OFer now. Pearce is a joke. Holt can give us some time out there if we ever see him again. But I actually prefer Holt in very very short OF stints, mostly splitting time with Chavis at 2nd while Chavis also splits time with Mitch at 1st. I no longer hold out hope of any significant contribution from Pedey at 2nd. Why do we think JBJ gets so much playing time? Do we think he has video of Cora boinking DD? He gets the playing time because there is literally no other option of any merit for a team that wins games with its pitching and most specifically its Rotation and needs defense to pull that off. We can't afford to suddenly have balls dropping in all over the OF and haphazard throws. Can't afford it and Management at all levels knows it. Should they have found their way to any of a dozen ML CFer's years ago that can play standout CF while not presenting the multitude of offensive issues JBJ presents dumping JBJ when they could? No question. By the way, I should have added to my last post that Beni is ALSO a construct of the best PR operation in all MLB other than the current LAD's PR operation.
  8. They are't ....CORRECT!!! JBJ is a construct of the greatest MLB PR machine in history short of the PR team the LAD now bring to the table. I'm not saying there are buckets and buckets of really good CFers in MLB. However I would have taken Kiermaier in his prime (might take him now), Marisnick, Jones in his prime, maybe even Kevin Pillar in his prime over JBJ and other than Marisnick the other 3 are just CFers that have done significant time in the AL East. Just give me a guy that does not have a hole in his bat for 400 AB's a season and then shockingly has this 2-3 week run of cosmic hitting that comes from nowhere that neither he nor I can understand or explain! And yes, "swing hard in case he hits it" is the only recognizable hitting posture this guy assumes even if it means he starts his bat on Wednesday and it finally arrives in some portion of the hitting zone on Friday. He swings hard......AT THE AIR. Now they are stuck with him. JD would last about three nanoseconds playing steady OF. Beni is no CFer and neither is a RFer in Fenway Park. Mookie is not good enough in CF to play there steadily either. We will have balls falling all over the place on a team that wins or loses with its Rotation. Anybody here want to make the case that we win or lose on 1-6 in the batting order? Does anybody really want to make the case that we win or lose on 7-9 in the batting order when 1-6 is performing so inconsistently? Vaz is hitting! if we end up playing Sandy 3 games of 5 and Vaz only 2, that will be the coup de grace for me. I am going to have a heart attack! But the comparisons between the 2014 team and this one are striking including all the whining at umps from the bench. SHUT UP and play the game.
  9. Well at least JBJ didn't roll over into a DP which was the predictable result.
  10. Heck of a play by Marisnick
  11. The runner couldn't believe it either. You could almost see him laughing at us.
  12. Oddly I have always thought the 2nd Ref really had little to do. If he is down low he is really too close to plays to really see them at the speed these guys are skating and hitting. If they are both up top, now you have linesmen and refs getting in each others way. So I tend to agree with that.
  13. Well that was ugly. The OFer's were probably headed for the bullpens just to make sure they had no part in that mess.
  14. Heck, Hockey referees should be better now that they and the linesmen don't have to ref fights any longer. 4 on 4's are now such a rarity because there are no fights any longer. 5 on 3's. even rarer.
  15. Jerry going blind in his old age. He must be preparing for a career as an ump.
  16. I am sorry. But that kind of DP drives me crazy. The runner is inches away from the SS trying to turn the DP and he can't even attempt to touch him. Ridiculous. It just is. The SS should have had to jump over the runner and make that throw and more importantly, he should be prepared to. Not in this version of MLB.
  17. Funny....somebody mentioned a couple nights ago that Cora was entering his Farrell period. Remember the year under Farrell when the Sox got on so many umps mainly from the bench that the entire league ump corp got on them. This is starting to look a bit like that. As I remember it, that year did not go well for us.
  18. Sale is throwing a ton of FB's. There has already been a number of "almosts". Somebody is going to catch one of these with ducks on the pond.
  19. Does Sale seem a little FB happy tonight? Of course i guess if I want to make that case I would have to say that Sandy seems a little FB happy.
  20. Fenway wall scraper.
  21. I have to admit though, I see a lot more of 1st basemen trying to hit the pitcher with the ball before he gets to the bag which is about as stupid as a runner sliding into 1st base. You are forcing the pitcher to catch the ball and then find the bag. A pitcher with any athletic ability at all can actually catch the ball at the bag without much difficulty and you have not wasted any time recovering from catching the damned ball and then poking for the bag with your foot. Unless you can hit the pitcher on the run perfectly with a chest high throw anything else is going to cost time.
  22. No idea where Pearce was trying to throw the ball. Your pitcher expects you to throw to the bag on that play, not at him and not really leading him to any other place but the bag.
  23. An old timey slide that appears to have worked out for the runner.
