  1. Unbelievable....we can now start our Farrell tally of games lost by Manager for Cora. Heck add the ST Rotation debacle with the games Cora has botched since and he is running up a heck of a tally for himself.
  2. Has Cora had nobody up this whole time? What the f*** is wrong with NESN? NESN seems stunned that we can actually lose baseball games.
  3. Work might be the guy that is hurt or unavailable. When was the last time we actually saw Work?
  4. Go ahead Hand, throw him another right down main at 3-2
  5. Hand gets Mookie to 0-2 and then chickens out only to throw it right down the middle to the hottest hitter on the team. I don't care that he is a LH hitter, he is still the hottest hitter on this team.
  6. The 9th is a clean inning. So it passes my critique for Hembree though just barely. No question I would have gone with Hembree over Brasier and not looked back no matter what happened. Not Monday morning quarterbacking with that either. Actually even if Hembree is available it does not surprise me that Cora went with Brasier.
  7. I have seen Lakin before and this is not the way he throws. Come on Eck tell us something that matters for God sake!
  8. One of the things I hate about our NESN broadcast crews is that they are so dedicated to the PR aspects of their jobs (must be written into their contracts) that they hardly ever tell you who is up in the pen and when they got up. I swear Lakin looks like he got about 8 pitches out there before they called on him.
  9. Freeman could not decide if he wanted to foot first or head first slide and did neither! Landed somewhere in the middle. Heck even I could not have done that!
  10. Boy Allen really tanked that thing as well. That is right where the RF bulge begins.
  11. How long did Lakin have to get ready? Was he up at all when Brasier began imploding?
  12. At least he did not leave any doubt about the matter.
  13. Is that enough of Brasier in the 9th for you yet Alex?? Is that enough FINALLY!
  14. At this point in my life I would end up looking like a tranquilized hippo laying there snorting into the clay somewhere between 2nd and 3rd waiting for my trip to the zoo and hoping the place at least had a nice mud pool for me.
  15. Did not see this game restart. Came back in time to see Walden get bailed out by Barnes. But If bullpen arms were designed to succeed every time out they wouldn't be bullpen arms. Myself, have very limited to no confidence in Brasier. Still think Barnes is the best relief arm Cora has. Still say bringing in Hembree or Work with ducks on the pond is living dangerously and continue to think it makes sense for Cora to push the younger guys along looking for more guys that he can hand the ball to with ducks on the pond and more guys he can hand the ball to later in games. I will however repeat that this team lives and dies with its Rotation and the team has to work around that core principle and all that comes with it or it won't work at all. If the intended 5 including Nate can stay healthy it is likely the best Rotation in the AL at least.
  16. Well they had to stop. This field drains pretty well (used to drain right into the damned walkways down from the dugouts). But look at how wet that got just from the time they took off the tarp.
  17. Man it looks wet and dark out there. The lights are not even cutting through this s***.
  18. Sorta' surprised they are playing this but NESN came on air saying that game start will be pretty close to the usual.
  19. It pains me to point out (not anything to do with the forum but more because i am so irritated that we STILL have not put this behind us as a country yet) but MLB did not even begin to integrate till 1947. Some darned good ballplayers never got to play MLB but were playing somewhere. Hard to imagine there are not some darned good 2nd basemen that should have been playing MLB on talent alone in Doerr's era.
  20. "I think Doerr wins hands down" In an 8 team league all within train travel distance of each other and all in two time zones and before the emergence of the relief pitcher. I would take either one frankly. There is no real way to do direct comparisons between eras IMO. Not sure its "hands down Doerr" but I could buy Doerr as the better 2nd baseman. I can't argue successfully against Doerr. But i think it would be just as hard to argue against Pedey. Would not shock me in the least if they both end up in the same spots by the same routes with regard to their legacies as players.
  21. I think he just nudges out Bobby Doerr as best Sox 2nd baseman all time. So if that were true, you could look at the esteem that Doerr is held in and take a guess at where Pedey should be. You could also argue that Doerr just noses out Pedey. That is some company to be keeping though.
  22. Thats fine too if it works. Not sure if Fielder's contract was insured the way all these contracts are insured now and not sure how much of a factor that is. Actually, now that I think about it, Fielder's contact must have been insured. i suspect Pedey will need a lengthy detox from being a true MLB player. i suspect based on what we saw yesterday and for a multitude of reasons the team is willing to do just about anything not to see Pedey go through this any longer. I don't know what that lengthly detox is going to look like. But you could knock me over with a feather if Pedey won't need one that does not include endless therapy and endless rehab stints in Pawtucket or Portland or wherever. Maybe a final 60 days around the actual MLB club will be enough. I kinda' doubt it though.
  23. If he keeps being paid under a pure player's contract that dooms him to continued rehab stints and therapy aimed at getting him back into a MLB uni again. That will eventually be like being tied to a whipping post for Pedey if its not already. The Sox don't have to bring Pedey back again to MLB unless he PROVES he can meet Cora's standard which has been multiple MLB games in a row as a 2nd baseman. Pedey has been unable to prove that he can and IMO he can't. In fact both team and player in this instance would be tied to the same whipping post because currently the way his contract is written the Sox can only compensate him as a player. He DOES want his money and he deserves his money. The franchise is not the only entity obligated in a player contract. The player has obligations to the team as well. The downside to the team to keeping any player obligations in a Pedey contract is having to keep dumping Pedey on the 60 day IL or lose a roster spot to a guy that can't play. Not even sure how long they can do that.
  24. Very professional baseball player that exhibits the sort of broad range of skill sets that actually define a baseball player. Unfortunately Comm. Manfred is headed in a different direction and appreciation for multidimensional baseball players is in decline. Glad we have him. Wish he could stay on the field longer. Glad we have him nonetheless.
  25. That is a darned good outing for Rick. Assuming Price is OK (scheduled to start tomorrow) we are just one starter short of the Rotation we expected to have probably pitching like we expected them to pitch.
