  1. For my money he is fine at 1st. He is a corner infielder.
  2. I don't care who you are. You can't be a two pitch starter in this league. Sandy has had Sale down to one pitch at times in this game.
  3. Unreal....No No Nunny.....really.....NO........NO.....Nunny!
  4. Agreed but the game Sandy is calling seems a bit comatose.
  5. What the heck are Sale and Sandy doing tonight?
  6. A little late working in Changes there Sandy. When you have waited so long that they are hitting Sales slider, you have waited too long.
  7. Sale has got to get the FB dialed in if he is not going to throw any changes. Frankly LH pitchers without a change to throw to RH hitters is tough sledding.
  8. Boy they are just sitting on that thing. Why is he throwing so many sliders? Willing to take the late swing on the FB because Sale is not throwing near the strike zone with many of them
  9. Gardner...what a pain in the ass
  10. Geez did you see Sanchez next to Chavis at 1st? Lets not get into any bench brawls with these guys. Their 2nd baseman looks like he would be a handful
  11. Actually Eck, I am probably the loudest complainer about the rocket ship baseball on the planet. Dever's HR was crushed. Yea it was in the air for a long time....but that was tagged.
  12. Geez Tulo on an IL again. Teams interested in him should sign him to 10 day deals. Bird....injured again as well. Steady hospital resident.
  13. Barnes is the fireman and he is the only fireman we have. That is how Cora uses him. So unless the fire does not start till the 9th inning I guess he is not going there. In fact, the only time I now expect Cora to use Barnes in the 9th is if a very potent middle of the order set of bats is scheduled to come up in the 9th by the opponent and Cora has not used Barnes yet in that specific game. I would prefer Workman to virtually anybody else we have at the moment for closing duties. At least the 9th is a clean inning at its start and IMO Workman needs clean innings. Can't bring him in with ducks on the pond. Can't bring Hembree in with ducks on the pond either. Brasier has already turned into a high leverage puddle enough times this year before this last episode to make him highly suspect. Really no rational for running him out there again unless there is nobody else to toss out there.
  14. That is a matter of opinion. Since I have opined here on several occasions that Brasier is misplaced high leverage, I have at least been consistent in that regard. You can disagree. Cora can disagree. Frankly I see no reason to believe Brasier belongs in those situations.
  15. The end of game 2 against Cleveland is pretty much on Cora. I have no idea why he was still pointing toward Brasier to close for one and I have no idea why he boxed himself into Lakin with little time to warm in the bullpen for another and though this final issue did not matter, I have no idea why there was apparently nobody warming in the Sox pen in case the Sox came back and tied in the ninth. They had a runner on at the end of that game. Last game against Cleveland, Cora had few choices that would have changed that outcome. Weber turned into a pumpkin and that was that. Tried to use his Pawtucket relief squad to muddle through and it didn't. Just the way it goes.
  16. So his agent isn't gauging the market, understanding who is signed and who is not and advising you accordingly. That would be hard to imagine. Kimbrel is NEVER going to make up the money for putting himself on the shelf for this year and I don't see a team including the Sox desperate enough to give Kimbrel years....not IMO happening. Seems to me that Kimbrel is on the shelf because he put himself on the shelf. Kimbrel is a 31 year old hard throwing reliever with everything going in the wrong direction that was basically pulled off closer duties by the end of post season last year. If he is lucky, he ends up with a deal that takes him through whatever is left of this season and next season. He needs to get real about his expectations or he is going to spend the entire year on the shelf. Nobody is giving him the 5 years he wanted originally and there is no indication that he is even at this moment interested in a 1 or 2 or even 3 year deal.
  17. The Sox offered Kimbrel $17.9M for a one year deal as a qualifying offer. He didn't take it and he is still sitting there waiting because nobody will give him years. I can't blame teams for being resistant to years in Kimbrel's case.
  18. Barnes is the fireman. He is the only fireman we have. Cora is using him to stem the tide. Who else does he have that can stem the tide? Nobody thats who. i still think they are stuck trying some combination of Hembree and Workman closing because at least the start of the 9th is the start of a clean inning. It won't be pretty. But were many of Kimbrel's saves what you would call pretty. He rejected $17.9M for one year from us in a qualifying offer and is still sitting on the sidelines because NOBODY will give him years.
  19. Here is another thing to consider. We are 16-10 for the month of May so far. Not bad right? Who did we pick up ground on?
  20. You know how you know this bullpen is in trouble? I would bet real money that they could not piece together an actual bullpen game right now if their lives depended on it.
  21. this by the way is the same team as last year's save Joe Kelly and Drew Pomeranz, plus Nate, Chavis and Pearce. Pedey gave them nothing last year. The hitting has been spotty. The fielding has been spotty. Cora's grand Rotation plan blew up in his face and the bullpen is more a collection of journeymen plus Barnes. I even consider Workman a journeyman because you have to give him a clean inning. Sure relief pitchers are role players but we have taken it to something of an extreme.
  22. The Sox got off to a great start last year and were never really challenged. Different story this year and they don't seem to be responding. That is frustrating.
  23. Cora trying to see if that shot improves Brewer's pitching. But no.
  24. So Beiber has not pitched well either. But which team has put up two innings with goose eggs and which one has scored every inning?
  25. Geez look at Weber's pitching line. Worse, they put his photo next to it. Looked like he was on a bender.
