  1. We’re gonna win. Heard it here first. I’ll miss the first four innings. When I get back we will be up six to nothing
  2. In the words of Leonardo from the 1984 Mirage Ninja Turtles after they kill Shredder. “Strike hard and fade away..... into the night” In other words. Strike hard. Kick their ass and come back home.
  3. I think we can turn it up in the second half of the season and really compete for the division. I can’t remember our record against the Yanks. 1-4? If we win this weekend and maybe win both it could be the momentum we need to right this ship.
  4. Valid point. Yankees still could go in a slump. Doubt Houston fans thought their team would lose 8 of their last 9 games or whatever it is. They are terrible right now. Injuries can come when least expected. As for the Dodgers, they remind me of Lebron James. Always a threat but I don't put my money on them to win the World Series. Though they gave Houston a hell of a good series two years ago. But if they happen to play the Yankees I don't think the Dodgers have a chance.
  5. It seems with some of the fans it's either World Series or it's a lost season..... Even though a repeat in the World Series is next to impossible to do. Just ask Houston. Who actually had a better record last year than they did in their World Series year. If we make playoffs past the Wild Card round I will be happy. I don't see us beating the Yankees this year regardless.
  6. Putting aside my absolute hate and disgust for Wright I do agree.... What do we have to lose? If he can deliver us 6 decent innings and give us a chance to win I will take it.... Only way to find out is by putting him in the 5th spot in the rotation and letting him have at it. Though keep in mind Johnson was actually very good his last start.
  7. Yup, I like how passionate people get but at the end of the day sometimes their passion outweighs their judgement.
  8. That's sports fans unfortunately. You should have seen the Colts board when the Colts lost to the Chiefs in the playoffs.... The fans went from "Colts are losing close games, we will be better next year" (when the Colts started 1-5) then they went 10-2 losing only to the Jags and then Chiefs in playoffs and fans were saying "How did we lose to the Chiefs that bad, we suck!!!! Andrew Luck looks hurt, bla bla bla" Lmao there is a reason why we are fans. Most of them lose their head lol.
  9. I still like Cora and I still think he is a very good manager. I admit I didn't think we needed a closer all that bad personally. I also still think Barnes is a very good relief pitcher but just not a 9th inning guy. Unfortunately he cracks under pressure but I trust him in pretty much any other inning to get the job done.
  10. Anyone other than friggin Barnes. The guy has proven he is not capable of closing a game in the 9th. Yes right now is tough because Hembree is injured, but he also could be a legit 9th inning guy. He has been rock solid for us before he got hurt. Workman can't pitch every game but neither could Kimbrel. I would have given the 9th to Brewer then.... How many chances does Barnes get? I am fine with Barnes being in the game just not the 9th. He can't handle high pressure what so ever and he has proven that. Right now there is no right choice but Barnes certainly isn't it. Give the 9th to Workman and if he needs a night off then give it to anyone other than Barnes.
  11. Ya I started cheering and watching the Sox in 02 but I hardly remember those seasons other than some highlight games. Still at the end of the day we should on paper have enough talent that a closer shouldn't be hurting us this bad. Sales ugly first inning was just as much to blame as Barnes blowing it. Regardless we need someone fast who can half be respectable for the 9th inning.
  12. They should have but maybe they were thinking the same thing as the fans? On paper this was one of the best baseball teams in history. Never in a million years did I think not having a closer would impact us this much. I didn't think our starting rotation would come out as bad as they did, I didn't think Sale would be playing the way he is (not bad but not typical Sale) And I didn't think the offense would be so inconsistent as well. Stats shows we are a top 10 team in offense but I hate reading that s***. We score in chunks and against bad teams. I thought we could figure it out as the season went with our closer problem. But it's definitely more drastic than I thought it would be. I also don't think Kimbrel was the answer for the amount of money he wanted. But hopefully this management staff can sign somebody half respectable...... Or.... Let Workman have the 9th and see what he can do. He has only given up 1 friggin run in the last 30 batters he has faced. He has been very solid.

  14. Agreed. Actually yesterday in the game day thread I called that it would be Barnes and wasn't all that upset because he has some pretty solid numbers (except closing) but I said maybe he will redeem himself.... He s*** the bed and now it should be final that he never closes again. However he has solid numbers outside of the 9th inning. We find a closer or even a half respectable one and we are fine in my opinion.
  15. Valid, however something tells me Francona wouldn't keep putting Barnes out there in the 9th.
  16. Oh well. New issue of Superman is out. At least I have that to look forward to.
  17. I doubt I will be up in time to start the game thread anyway hahaha so a700hitter can start it. Though my son will probably have me up during the night at random times as he usually does lol!
  18. This is definitely a disappointing season for Sale to say the least. Given the start he had was next to as bad as it gets. But now take his last 8 starts. He went 11 innings in the two games combined against Houston and gave up 7 runs, gave up 4 runs against the Yankees, then finally looked like the Sale of old and was fantastic against the Royals, Rangers and Orioles.... Then shits the bed horribly once again against the Jays and had a horrible first inning today against the crap White Sox. 5 of his last 8 starts have not been good. Granted he rebounded today but that first inning was killer. Yes Sale doesn't always get the run support he should, but at the end of the day Sale just has not been that good this season.
  19. Also if our "Ace" could perform like an Ace that would be great as well.
  20. I will admitt I am guilty of saying we didn't need Kimbrel.... I truly thought we would be ok without him..... Man was I wrong. I just wish we had a closer.
  21. I'm not even sure what the time start time is for us? It's got to be a 9 am or 10 am type game.... Regardless with how this team is playing I'm scared lol
  22. Sarcasm gets lost on the internet. I thought it was at first and I even said in a previous comment I can't tell if it's sarcastic anymore because you kept going on.... Generally if it's sarcastic at some point someone will say "Ok I was being sarcastic relax" I'm generally good at picking up on sarcasm but it didn't come off that way. Sorry if I ready into it wrong. Then you created the game thread and I was like.... Well this goes against everything he said in the first place which was super moronic to me.... I apologize.
  23. Ya it was weird to me. I’ve actually always liked a700 and enjoyed some of his posts. I found it weird he was so upset that I created the game thread. I’ll chalk it up to a bad trip or drunk lol.
