  1. I'm afraid I feel the same way. Unless of course we add a reasonably ok-ish SS, and Devers defense can be ok and we are somewhere in the middle of the division by all star break- maybe you see someway John 18:10-11, & 35-36 10 Then Simon Peter, having a sword, drew it and struck the high priest’s servant and cut off his right ear. (The servant’s name was Malchus.) 11 So Jesus said to Peter, “Put your sword into its sheath; shall I not drink the cup that the Father has given me?”
  2. Yeah- Houck was not on his game for sure.... but those bobbled and screwed up double play opportunities in the first inning had to really shake him moving forward throughout the game. That can't feel good for a young pitcher- on a big stage seeing those blunders behind you.... so yes for sure I'd be willing to try a 3 X 3 rotation.... realistically we are a bad team no matter what likely.
  3. Some teams get stupid in spending...kinda the opposite we are doing. But all hypothetical... if you could would you dump him?
  4. Is Elvis Andrus actually available? If he is I would LOVE to see him added to the roster. Casas, Grissom, Andrus, Devers..... that's decent and competitive not amazing and great...but decent-. Valdez can platoon and give them a day off here and there.
  5. Let me as you this.... we get past the all star break... we are obviously on track to lose enough that we are going to be in the basement again. Devers goes on a hot streak with HR's- you open to trading him to a team that needs a bat to push through the play offs? I certainly am. He's not shown me he is good enough to carry the team, or to build a team around. What is the purpose of paying him all this money for the next few years when the team won't be able to compete?
  6. I agree with all that for sure... and yes the pitching era has been great- I just doubt it's as good as the numbers show so far and suspect time will expose that sooner than later.
  7. Our pitching has been the closest thing to a strength that we have had this year. It won't be for long. Poor defense and injuries will destroy starting pitching... which will result in the bullpen getting over taxed (bullpen still kinda unproven anyway). To try to save the pitching- I'd try to go with a very unconventional rotation. Something like batteries of three pitchers, each going a max of three innings- and a fourth for the 9th inning if necessary. Those guys could pitch every 3 or 4 days. Our pitchers look good early- lets just let Bello do 3, Houck do 3 Wink do 2-3.... do a similar battery the next day. Maybe when Devers and VG are on the infield the defense looks a little better... I'm not big on Devers for defense... but he's better than the three we are using now. I think you have to somehow find a veteran utility guy that can play defense. As far as offense... I see no solution.
  8. Does it matter? Of course I want his injury to heal up well.... but it's not going to matter for the team for sure if he comes up now or 10 days from now. I can't watch this team and think it is just one poor defensive 3rd baseman, who will get hot with HR's a couple times a year then strike out a bunch, away from winning a bunch.
  9. I'm going to switch to a better game. This team does not deserve my time. Later guys.
  10. I think he wanted to and Breslow told him no.
  11. Sox are a LONG way from being a competitive team. If these are the reinforcements from the minors... there is not much in the way of hope for thinking we can compete with the young guys. And obviously they aren't going to spend any money for pro help outside the team. Sad sad sad... can't understand how you could own a team, any team let alone the Red Sox and just watch it burn down like this. I don't want to hear that they brought us championships in the past- that's not how life works. You can't punch someone in the face and say- well I was really nice to you in the past so....??
  12. Ha yes.... next time they say it's full throttle they will need to clarify what direction.
  13. I was thinking the same thing... there's nobody in the minor system for the Red Sox that can take a ground ball or make throw in the infiield? I'm basically an idiot when it comes to baseball IQ.... but it sure does not like these buys belong anywhere close to this level of competition.
  14. Hard to believe this is the best Cora can find.
  15. Cora just said, "To be honest it was a good game," lol
  16. Two games in a row we are ahead- and blow it big time.
  17. Kinda like hearing from the wife that we just had sex 6 months ago. I mean.. that was great... but I'm still here as a fan for today's team.
  18. You'd have to have just zero love for the game to own a team and put a roster like this on the field.
  19. What's a good Royals talk message board?
  20. Boom! See, I told you so.
  21. No.... this season will very very very long I think.
  22. I like Milar's point, "Not alot of antics with this ball club (O's)." I kinda hate the Red Sox silly hands in the air, choreographed, celebrations when they get on base.... let stuff like that evolve over a winning season... don't plan in before day one. Reminds me of NFL players dancing when they make a 10 yard catch and their team is behind.
  23. Absolutely, 1000%, for sure... what she said.
  24. For about 5 innings...
  25. You will be when he gets us through this inning
